Also, the Jet's were 1-1 in the games that were different than Miami's (Tenn and Bengals) and the Dolphins were 0-2 in games against opponents not played by the Jets (Houston and Baltimore). Therefore, the 14 common games the Jets were 8-6 and the Phins were 11-3. Easy scheduling doesn't cut it in the Pennington / Favre debate.
Favre sucked a major number of times this season, no doubt but you are a jester to even suggest Pennington belongs in the same conversation with him. Also, if you think he is the only reason this team collapsed then you better go back and this time actually watch the games.
then he shouldnt have been out there... if your a detriment to your team, you shouldnt be playing...bottom line
Cmon now! Now it is the sunny weather in Miami and the windy weather in the Meadowlands and the coaching blah blah blah. Favre was an absolute joke this year, one of the 5 worst QBs in the league while Pennington was one of the top 5.
the bottom line is that Favre was the worst QB in the NFL over the last 5 weeks of the season. if the Jets were any kind of organization they'd come out and tell Favre that under no circumstances is he welcome back next year, but of course I'm sure we're going to have to deal with an offseason of will he/won't he retire bullshit.
No matter how you spin it it isn't as black and white as that, they have a coach that may be Coach of the Year while ours is going to get fired and rightfully so. There is no way you can not factor that into their comparison and unlike other sports the coach in football is a vital piece to the success to a franchise.
Favre is better than Pennington overall by a mile. Right now, not so much. If I had to choose a QB to win be a game next week, has to be Favre though.
I'll buy that, the problem is if you chose him every week, you would not be playing next week... SEE THE JETS!!!
And they also had one of the best coaches in the NFL while we had one of the worst. Sure Penny had a better season, but if the QBs switched teams there is no way of knowing if the stats would be the same or if Penny would end up better
There is alot you can blame on the coaches this year, Favre being the worst QB in the league is not one of them.
did you watch chad last season? we would have been 6-10 w/him this season. he needed a change of scenery, and he was in a better system. now that we have lost, i will say that im happy for chad, but not the dolphfags. also, i want mangini fired.
No but with better coaching = better routes and easier decisions to be made, I seem to remember a lot of those horrible bombs were called not random. Also with better coaching we wouldn't have put it in the hands of the QB in difficult positions and instead with other players would be able to instead spread the responsibility. When in games down the stretch we completely forget guys like Leon, Keller and even Cotchery or whoever our 3rd WR is at the moment what players is the QB going to get it to where it doesn't become a forced throw???
I was thrilled when we got Favre, and I'm still glad we got him. What I won't do is sit here with 20/20 hindsight and say "Had I known, I would have told you so." That accomplishes nothing.Favre is one of the best QBs who has ever played. Coaching blew this, and not even the great Pennington could have changed that.
No I blame the coaches on the implementation and complete lack of adjustments when defenses figured out our short passing offense. Favre was bad but bad coaching amplified the effect exponentially.
