Greatest Play of the Season Chad Pennington kneels downs the ball to end the game againts the raiders. A dream is realized. Chad completes a 16 game season and the Jets make the playoffs. I was there and it was a magic moment. All our questions were answered and all the experts had to officially eat everything they said for the last year.
Coles' TD v NE. One of those plays you just see and are speechless. Wow. (Bit like Didier Drogba's goal for Chelsea against Everton the other week, for anyone who saw it live.)
The Cotch catch was a testiment to Mangini's coaching ability and commitment to winning and how it has affected this team and showed us a glimpse of things to come. It showed the fire and guts born into this team. A don't quit attitude that set the tone for the rest of the season. Coles stepped up and showed it again in the same game. And we've been seeing it time and time again throughout 2006. The Pennington throw in the end of the Cleveland game was pretty gutsy while avoiding the sack IMHO. To me that was a TD.
I loved the play when Ellis sacked Brady to seal that game for the Jets.... I'd vote for other though because my favorite play happened in pre-season, If that counts but it was the Brad Smith reverse for a TD against the Skins when Brick layed out 2 skins while Smith trotted into the endzone.
I loved all these plays guys- great memories, my own personal one was Justin returning that kick- I was in a bar in Orlando at the time and I swear the whole bar, irrelative of their allegience was jumping up and down- I was crying in my beer a few moments later and said to myself, "same old same old, we have no chance this year." Ha!
Pennington play action to McCareins vs. Detroit was sweet. 3rd and 1 already up 7-0, the Jets go play action and bomb it deep to JMac for 6. I like Pennington's play action ability, and to go deep for 6 like that was awesome. That is my play of the year. I know it is an odd one, but I liked it alot. Leon's was amazing too.
for me it was the Leon Washington play as i was watching the game with my friends and we all went crazy when that happened.
I'm going to go for a long-shot here... and say that Mangini going for it on 4th and 2 (or whatever the distance was) against the Colts. If we take the field goal there... and make it... we are tied after regulation... not that it matters now, but a win in that game could have done one of two things... 1) kept teams gunning for the jets and we might have lost a few more... or 2) given the jets ridiculous confidence which could work strongly for them, or backfire immensely... Beating what was thought to be the best team in the league on week 4 would have changed the entire complexion of the season. Thoughts?
No. And Long shot is an understatement. A win against the Colts would not of done too much for the team in a bad way.
