One question: did he WANT to be a Jet? Didn't he use Jets as a vehicle to get to other teams? That's where my dislike kicks in.
For once, I partly agree with you. Favre is among my least favorite Jets of all time. He was as selfish an athlete as I ever seen.i never wanted him here, he didn't want to be here, he wrecked the 08 season with his selfishness, and used the Jets to get to Minnesota, which is what he wanted all along. The 08 season was among the least enjoyable for me in 48 years as a Jets fan. He had a horrible season. His stats were inflated by a handful of good games,but the last third of the season was miserable. How ant Jets fan looks back on that season and Favre fondly is beyond me. Your reasons for not liking Favre apply equally to Revis and K.Johnson. They were both selfish and both did not want to be here unless they were paid ridiculous amounts of money. Revis hurt the team repeatedly by holding out and his holdout and contracts hurt the Jets at a time when the Jets had the talent to win. And he forced his way out of here by threatening another holdout and a ridiculous contract coming off tha ACL injury. I have similar contempt for him as I do Favre. They are cut from the same cloth. I also put Tebow on my disliked list with Favre, Revis, and Johnson.
Whining about Favre because he didn't want to be a Jet is silly. The same thing could be said for most of the guys ever to suit up for this organization.. They all have different motivations- most of them want $$ or a job in the league and could careless about the organization.. Favre was just another in that category. If someone said he was their favorite Jet I would find that to be a little bit dumb because he was only here one year, but I don't see a reason for him to be someone's least favorite either. He was brought in to be a stopgap and that's what he was. If that whole situation bothered you, it makes more sense to hate the guys that made it happen : tannenbaum/Mangini/woody than the player because they knew what they were getting into from the start.

Just wow for some of the illogic on this thread. In addition to being a fan of his before he came to the Jets, I will always be grateful for his role in ending Chad's career with the Jets. Not that such was his intention, but that's how it played out, and it was past time for the Jets to move on from the Chadster.
the other guys wanted more money, that is totally different. Players should get as much money as possible but when they played here they played hard and they wanted to win. That is the difference btw Favre w/ Key/revis. If he played well that would be one ting, if he did all he could to help us win that year that would be one thing but he was helping GB opponents prepare for the packers rather than learning his new system.

I'm totally in agreement with junc about that Favre shit. Favre was lighting is up mostly before they got to 8-3, then a "slight" biceps injury became Favre throwing well most of the time and throwing a complete duck into triple coverage to lose games. He threw the season to get away from the Jets. He never wanted to play for this team, it was just the only way that GB would let him go without retiring. Then the Jets agreed to let him retire, drafted a QB and cut him when he predictably unretired. And then Brett Bicep went on to have a career year with Minny the following year. The Jets got the back page all year and Fagve got to go to Minny and fail 2 years in a row. It was a symbiotic relationship until Favre realized that he was winning too much with the Jets, might make the playoffs and maybe they'd change their mind about letting him retire.
Spoken like someone who has no clue about anything that went on with the Jets that season. Favre hurt his throwing arm, the Tannenbaum and Mangini told him not to tell anybody he was hurt, Mangini forced him to play hurt (torn ligament in HIS THROWING ARM) ... and we promptly went from the best team in the league to losing a a bunch of games. Then Tannenbaum and Mangini had the balls to pretend to the media like they had no idea why Favre was playing poorly. The Jets fanbase should be knobbing Favre for taking an average team and making them Super Bowl contenders while he was healthy ... and then being a gamer when he was hurt.
Blahblahblah. Favre did have some minor injury to his throwing arm. Then he proceeded to throw bullets in the ensuing weeks. It was only when the Jets were in striking distance of a playoff berth that he decided to play the TORN BICEP card. A card that never got pulled the following year when he lit the world on fire with the Vikings.
Oh my god, I almost forget how many Favre fans signed up here to root for their boy. It was almost a mini-Tebow situation.
You should have been here when that Testaverde disciple showed up. He was worse than any one Favre or Tebow worshipper.
