The problem with him is his head coach. Mangini screwed around with this kid so much last year. After he had a great game against the Bengals in Week 5 he rode the pine again for several weeks (ostensibly because he can't pick up the blitz, as if you need to pick up the blitz when you're running the ball) while Jamal Lewis was going at about a 2 YPC clip until everyone else got hurt to where he had no choice but to put him in. And even after his last four games they still drafted Hardesty and are pushing him to be the #1 back.
Nobody thinks he can hold up for a full season of pounding. If Harrison would get 20 touches a game, then he'd be a top 40-50 pick. But with Hardesty there, a time share on an awful team with no passing threat at all isn't an ideal fantasy situation. 1. CJ 2. AP 3. MJD 4. Ray Rice 5. Andre Johnson 6. Frank Gore 7. Steven Jackson 8. Turner 9. Brees 10. Moss 11. Rodgers 12. DeAngelo Williams
That's pretty much the way I have it, only swapping out DeAngelo for Reggie Wayne. I actually have DA behind Greene and Mendenhall, but I really have no idea how to read that Panther back situation. It just can't work as smoothly as it did last season, perfection like that doesn't happen twice in a row, especially for a bad team. Plus, in games where they got 15+ touches, Mendy and Greene put up big numbers, and are still improving. As young as they are, they might both be safer options than picking your #1 RB as a known committee player.
It's all early. To be honest, I haven't looked at the late first round guys that much since I'm the #1 pick in my main league and I don't know what other picks I am yet. I've done some mock drafts, and I never have to make those choices. I can't put Greene that high because I think there's a good chance LT takes a lot of the regular season load to try to keep Greene healthy. And if that doesn't happen, I worry a little about him staying healthy.
