Do you have a better solution for next season? Maybe 7-9 with Geno or Petty?

Fitzpatrick may be the best option next year again. If he is the Jets need to have a plan to make him the stopgap and not the continuing plan. We've been down the Vinny path once before and while I loved Vinny he was never the future of the franchise, neither is Fitzpatrick.

For me, a good season. We did not have all the pieces this season, which we can address in the draft and improve next season, although it'll be a heckuva lot harder schedule.

Annoyed at being swept by Rex but after the Super Bowl, let's look forward.

I can't say I'm proud to be a Jets fan lol. After so many years of losing, it grows tiresome to go down like this. Could it have been worse? Yes, could it have been better? Yes

I'm proud too. Great season, but losing twice to Rex Ryan's Buffalo Bills is unacceptable. That team is (6-8) against other NFL teams and (2-0) vs. the Jets. Damn shame. Proud of FITZMAGIC, 31 Touchdowns for the most in Jets Single Season QB History. Marshall was a beast. Decker too. Disappointing ending though for sure.

From a league wide perspective, it wasn't even close to being a fantastic year. Due to numerous key injuries, league wide mediocrity, bad officiating, bad coaching and just bad football, it was probably the worst season since the 1987 strike shortened one. The product on the field has been on a steady decline for a number of seasons now and this season it just seemed to bottom out.

I was just thinking that he may not be the write in candidate for starter next year.

what i mean is that instead of breaking loose and running for a first down here and there, as he has been, he was sitting there absorbing th erush and throwing into coverage.

It's odd to see as the technology for use on the field gets better, the officiating gets worse. But overall, I agree that the gap between good teams and mediocre/bad teams was at its peak this season, the Jets are gonna be the only team with a winning record not in the playoffs this year, and that includes two 9-7 teams making it because they won bad divisions. Usually there are at least a couple of other 9-7 or 10-6 teams not making it. Very rare to see the entire NFC playoff picture (not seeding) set a week before the season is over, and only have 2 teams fighting for that last wildcard spot in the final week for the other conference.

Who knows what options will present in the off-season?

The important thing is for the Jets to rebuild ergonomically and for best effect at this point. They need a good young offensive lineman at one of the tackle positions. They probably could use another guard also. They need a QB. They need a TE, because the two guys they have now are both h-backs. They probably should get a couple of cheap young RB's, particularly if they're going to re-sign Ivory and Powell. Both of those guys have had issues staying healthy the last couple of seasons.

On the defensive side they have to get better LB's. Mauldin may well be the answer at ROLB but Pace is a million years old at LOLB and Harris is getting there and it's not clear they have another quality ILB on the roster at this point.

Bingo. I didn't expect much from this team going into the year, even with Fitz appointed starter. But to come this far with a chance to get in and they came out the way they did... it's excusable. I'm in NO way ready to start thinking about next season, I'm not sure how anyone can yet.

I will eventually look back on parts of this season fondly, but right now, I'm just sad. We had a chance to keep playing and pissed it away. The scar tissue just gets thicker.

Wish I could be this optimistic. Mac invested a lot to make us a "win now" team. Improvement was a given. Bowles was handed playoff caliber talent to work with, team was relatively healthy, and they had a soft schedule. 10-6 and no playoffs isn't very satisfying when you consider all that.

Well, like I say, I am happy they went 10-6 and i will not lose sleep over it. But I did not like their approach to this game.

Not completely wrong, but expectations change as the season goes on. This was a huge let down. We never can do it when we control our own destiny.it's embarrassing. Same old Jets continues

Was a completely different team than the one that went 4-12. Ridiculous to suggest there weren't post-season expectations attached to it.

My post was too negative. Bowles did a solid job. However, with so many variables in play, no telling what next season will bring. Lots of things in our favor this season and we fell short of the playoffs. Huge missed opportunity.
