I don't. If they could they'd be doing it for a living. I think the worst GM/HC/Assistant coach the league would do a better job than an amateur. Plus it's very easy to armchair Coach/GM.
Sometimes I think we are babysitting half the Posters here who think waiting and waiting for 15 or 20 years is a big deal This Team can be a Black Hole of depression frankly We need to hit the Bullseye...I don't think I can take too much more of this
Props for the gif. But seriously, It's not ONE game I'm worried about, it's the prospect of MULTIPLE games where he takes a beating like he did (or worse). As someone else posted, I agree that Darnold was never the same after he saw "ghosts". I've seen QBs ruined because of getting conditioned to "hearing footsteps". Zach showed none of that on Sunday, nor would I expect him to even over the course of a few games, but he's going to face a master of exploiting young QBs this week - the guy who manufactured those "ghosts" that Darnold saw, and remember, Darnold was in his second season, not his second game. I'd rather be safe than sorry.
2nd year right after one of his best games when he beat the Cowboys. The problem with the Ghost game is the Pats had a free rusher on almost every play and they were lighting him up. By the end of the 1st or early 2nd quarter Darnold was defenseless and unable to play. Gase left him in to take a beating the entire game when he was unable to protect himself. Gase still ran his 5 man wide leaving Darnold at their mercy. The following week against JAX Gase did the same thing and they lit Darnold up. 2 games later Darnold went to Gase and said enough and they put some players into protect. The Jets won a bunch in a row until Gase went back to 5 wide against the Bengals.
It was just one game. I'm done bitching about it and going to focus on the positives about week 2. Like keys to victory, or at least to some success, against the Patriots. Go Jets.
I disagree. I think they showed they can be a 6/7 win team. They lost by 5 on the road to a very tough defense. The first half was an extension of last year but the second half showed me that this team can, and will, compete in every game. They will probably win some games nobody expects. I predicted 6-11 and still feel that way, unless the injuries keep piling up.
I still have this team winning 8 games, once they start building some chemistry on the oline, get back some weapons on offense they will be in good shape. They need time to play together.
