But they're already said that they'll waive them if they don't get any offers. What team in their right mind would make an offer if they're just going to be waived after the draft anyway?
This just pisses me off. YOU CAN'T GET PEOPLE TO BUY YOUR PSLs IF YOU GO CHEAP WHEN IT COUNTS THE MOST.
If they're officially waived then they'll have to put in claims based on draft order. Someone towards the bottom of the draft would likely miss out. Either that or this is all a poorly worded rumor from a writer who is known for those. /checks author yep.
Michael Lombardi says lots of things. Still, I'm glad his time machine works. It's two days before the draft. Welcome to the land of lies. I'll wait until Sunday before I get pissy about this.
Best way to sell PSL's is too win the Superbowl in 2010, and if we cut 3 of our 22 starters without any feasible way of replacing them all, we won't be doing that... Yes Faneca is aging and declining, BUT he is still the best we have, and one of the leagues best reun blockers, he has another year left. Yes Ellis is getting older, but we don't even have a starter opposite him, so ditching him would be a terrible idea even if we somehow manager to obtain Ndamukong Suh. Thomas is the most expendable, but Taylor isnt a 3 down player any more! He is a pass rusher, a good one, but that doesnt make him an everydown player. He is really bad against the run. Thomas plays in running situations and Taylor in passing, best way to make the best impact in 2010.
It's horseshit. I am surprised that Tanny would make such a transparent ploy for a smokescreen. Tanny in his most recent presser: 'Woody told me to do whatever it takes to win a championship.' Tanny 2 days before the draft: 'Woody said scrap that whole championship thing, we can't sell PSLs, dump the veterans.' Makes no sense at all. I don't buy it for a second.
As I posted earlier, I think this whole report is BS. However, with the Taylor signing and if the Jets draft an OLB in the draft, I can see Thomas being shipped out of town. Faneca and Ellis make no sense whatsoever though.
Unless we already have someone, or get someone... Faneca, despite his prowess in the runnging game, has been a pass blocking liability for the past two seasons. We need someone to protect Sanchez up the middle. If they can find someone who can pass block better without a major drop-off in run blocking then I'll be all for it.
no way we cut Ellis. that would be the biggest WTF? i dont see how you load up for a SB run and cut two key players on both sides of the line. thomas is mediocre at best as a pass rusher but hes a factor in run defense. do i really need to elaborate how little sense this would make?
I think it's possible that we're shopping Bryan Thomas, but not all 3. Could be that Tanny wants to get Thomas' name out there without making people think we're picking pr trading up for an OLB, so he's throwing 3 names out there instead of one.
Yeah, not sure how they could possibly justify cutting Ellis. He has been excellent in the 3-4 and without any proven ends on the team we would be fucked.
Ellis was actually better than most 3-4 DEs in this league wearing a cast on his hand at the end of last season. The funniest thing about Lomtardi's quote about this being a money-saving method is that Ellis' salary number this season is only about $3.3mil and he's a UFA for next season. If they trade him, it's not to save money, it's to get an extra pick. It would make zero sense to trade him at all.
now way, it can't be..... why would they sign gayson taylor? uggghh....... I was in a good mood until I came to this site.
