?

Would you be happy with trading Abe + 5th rounder for Falcon's 2nd & 3rd round picks?

oh, and for the 5th time:

The value chart is not gospel. Teams use it as a reference, but by no means do they strictly follow it. Depending on the draft, teams value different picks differently.

no way a 2nd & 3rd is worth more than a first except on paper. The players you get with those two picks are unlikely to have the impact of the one you'd get in the first round.

Both these are good senarios too and they have already been looked at.

The most likely out of these is a 2nd in both 2006 & 2007. The Jets won't take anything less than a 2nd in this years draft and Atlanta sure won't give up a 2nd this year followed by their 1st next year.

    NO WAY.

While people/fans seem to be in a rush to dump Abraham, the fact remains that he is one of the very few (If not #1) IMPACT / game changing players on the team.

If the JETS were to trade him, they would hopefully try to replace him with another (potentially) impact player. The further out of the 1st rd they get, the odds of this diminish, and they'll most likely just end up drafting some journeymen, building a middle of the road team.

Abraham was #13 pick, and turned out to be a SUCCESS, so this takes out the guess work and "potential" (bust) that a player drafted brings.

Sometimes ya gotta do what you can, but hopefully they'll stick to their guns.

This is what has been annoying me from the Falcons fans here, Abraham is worth a contract for a top 5 DE, but not worth a 1st round pick? The falcons obviously give him first value with the contract, but the Jets are asking for too much when they want that same value? Don't give me this "we are paying a huge contract and shouldn't have to give up a 1st rounder too" crap. The contract means nothing to the Jets. The Jets need adequate compensation.

The Jets wanted Schaub, the Falcons said no. They wanted a first, they said no. So in order to get what they want and try to force the Jets to give in, they sign a deal with Abraham before agreeing to anything with the Jets. The Falcons want Abraham and want the first rounder, but are unwilling to give the Jets anything they want. Even though all they are asking for is the same value the Falcons gave him when they offered Abraham that huge contract. So the FO said screw you, and went to Seattle.

If ATL wanted a 5th, or even a 4th, along with Abe for the 1st, I could live with that. But it seems to me that ATL wants the Jets to give them everything they desire, Abe and to keep Schaub and the 1st rounder, but do not want to give the Jets anything they ask for. If ATL want value, they have to be willing to give value.

At this point, with the Seattle offer, Atalanta will have to find a way to pony up their first. It could include a swap of second round picks, or something else that satisifies the Falcon's desire to get a starting safety in the draft. They can still get that done with the 2.4 pick. At this point, some way for both FO's to come out looking OK is a must.... neither one wants to look like they caved in.

Cut the smugness with your loser franchise. Atlanta fans coming on here playing pretend that somehow the Falcons are this big winning franchise. Get the heck outta here with that nonsense. It's #15 for Abe, take it or leave it. Losing a Pro Bowl DE for a 2nd rounder,,,,, screw that.

Hell while were at it why don't we pull a Saints did for Ricky Williams and give you our entire draft for Abraham ?? Would that be enough ??

Unfortunately for you, we don't have Ditka running the show .....

If he wants out badly enough he can drop his asking price to make it more enticing for Atlanta to part with a 1st. Abe is all about Abe. I am glad he won't be playing here. If push comes to shove and we don't get what we deserve for him, then let him sit, either because he won't sign the tendered offer from the Jets or if he does, he should still sit because of his attitude. I use to be a big fan of his. I was happy we had a player teams had to GP. But he has proven more than once that he is selfish and not willing to go the extra for the team. For a big dude, he's a real pussy.

I'm not sure Atlanta is looking Safety this early in the draft now. We've added 2 to our roster in the last week.

The only safety we would take at 15 (Huff) will be off the board. All the other safeties we might have been interested in would have been in the 2nd, which is the pick we're offering. We might be interested in Watkins in the 3rd, unless a better prospect falls.

I think we're angling for Bunkley with our 1st, maybe J. Williams for CB, or possibly a trade down to gain picks replacing the ones we've lost.
