Oh yeah, I didn't even notice that. I meant jump over Atlanta in the second round, not the first. If Atlanta takes a QB in the first it will obviously be Ryan.
If the Jets don't resign Poteat, it may mean they're looking at a corner with the first pick. Maybe figuring they can pair him with Revis and they grow together. I wouldn't mind.
only if everyone we want is taken. McKelvin would be an awesome #2, as well as returning all kicks. We may go with Antoine Cason if its not a reach at 36. He has been compared to Chris McCallister.
Tuiasosucko had a fair chance. He played in training camp and preseason games. He was not kept locked in a cage. I don't know what "point" you are writing about here. I didn't bring up the Raiders at all. Your reading comprehension is as appalling as your grammar and spelling.
Belichik - Brady. Mangini-Henne? The biggest thing holding the Jets back at the moment is that Eric Mangini won't step out of Belichik's shadow and try to create his own blueprint for a winning team. Copying Belichik is just sad because the Jets will never get where they need to be without their Tom Brady and Scott Pioli also and even if Mangini is Belichik, which is doubtful at this point they aren't going to find the other two pieces. I'm still thinking 2 years and out at this point.
I don't think people think in terms of "bust" when it comes to second round picks. That's reserved for 1st rounders. However, I do think the FO is not as high on Clemens as they once were or he would have been awarded the job at the end of last season just as Pennington was the year before. I also don't think they have been very high on him since he got here. People will argue with me all the time about this but when Clemens was demoted from 2nd string to 3rd string in his rookie year I think the writing was on the wall. I also believe that is why Pennington was named the starter after the '06 season. They saw no reason to even bother with another competition.
Then I guess we wont be taking any QB anymore... If we do, I would'nt mind taking a shot at Culpepper. He's a probowler. Sign him to maybe a 2 yr deal worth $4M with $2m guaranteed and maybe he'll break out again if he fully recovers from the knee injury. I use to hate that because he use to be too good. Now I feel bad for him. Warner and Culpepper are great QBs. Warner is still very good and I think we should have signed him few yrs ago. He's not the same old 2000 Warner obviously but he is much better than our two. Cupepper is still young enough to lead a team again and I'm not sure why he has'nt been resigned. Any comments on Culpepper?
My understanding of that situation was that Wanny told Flacco he'd never start for Pitt. Could be wrong though.
Sir correct me if IM wrong. You said, IF they went with TUi it would single they didn';t think highly of Clemens. BY drafting another qb this year, wouldn't raise questions in your mind about K Clemens as being the answer at QB for the NEW York Jets.. Listen this was about Jets signing a veteran QB . What did it have to do with Tuiasosopo and my previous coments.
It shows that we would maybe be wise to take your Jets QB comments with a grain of salt. As for the first part of your post- yes, if the Jets draft a QB on day 1 it would likely indicate Clemens' days with the Jets are numbered. If Matt Ryan ends up being drafted by the Jets at 6, I will be for that.
Mangini also said that they like to take 3 or 4 QBs into TC. If they don't sign Tui, then we're two short (never mind the practice squad Ratliff, he seems to still be too much of a project). Personally, given the list of available "talent", I would prefer drafting a QB rather than signing one of these hapless FAs. Chris Simms has to prove two things before he should be considered -- (1) his true health, and (2) his ability to play QB consistently. Why should we take on another "project"? If we're going to develop a QB let's bring in some new blood in the later draft rounds. I don't think Flacco will be available for our second round pick. Ditto for Brohm. Josh Johnson? Chad Henne? Who?
not like i want him but im surprised no one even mentioned leftwich as a possibility. oh and please God no chad henne. he's a douche and on top of it his name is chad and he already had shoulder problems last season
My bad. I could've sworn I had read how Mangini brought Poteat back because he liked his work ethic last season. I guess I was wrong. We don?t have any depth at OL, with Clement, Wade Smith and Clarke cut, that leaves us with Bender, Montgomery and a bunch of guys who most jetsfans don?t even know that they?re on the roster. For the right price, Clement would be a good Backup. In 2006 i thought he played better than Moore.[/QUOTE] If we can or should sign an OL, and no one has picked up this guy, we should look to sign Shane Olivea. He played RT for the Chargers and would be a much improved backup than Clement or Clarke right off the bat. But that's only IF he hasn't been signed yet, and the money is right.
This fella was cut by the phins, and I'd say our QB situation whilst different is not as bad as theirs. Hes crap...hows that?
Culpepper minus the bad knee would be worth taking a shot on. With the bad knee he's just finished. He was a good QB when he had the mobility to make the pass rush tentative. He wasn't very careful with the ball though and the fumbles are really not accurately counted into his record in my opinion. A fumble is just as bad as an int in my book. Now that his mobility is gone so is his ability to function at a reasonable level in the NFL. The Vikings knew this, the Dolphins knew this (and how bad did he have to be to get cut by them?) and now the Raiders know this. He should be retired by the end of this season. If not it will be a testament to some team's desperation at QB and lack of viable options. BTW, before the injury he was a pretty good QB. Probably not a hall of famer but in the next rank down.
