no, do you think we offered him a better deal than BAL, or more likely do you think that JD arrogantly let him walk because he didn’t want to admit the mistake he made with Becton? More importantly, when Zach is running for his life and playing like shit are you going to be here next year demanding he gets more time because it’s the OL’s fault?
Loaded with speculation. We don't know what JD's offer was. We don't know what Moses' mindset was. And to claim he let Moses walk because he's arrogant and didn't want to admit a mistake is an opinion and one I disagree with. You can have that opinion, that's fine. But let's not try to pass an opinion or speculation as fact. By all reports, JD loved Icky Ewonu and sounds possible he would have been the pick at 4 if Sauce was not there. That speaks to his willingness to add an OT who would compete with Becton, a much more major investment than resigning Morgan Moses
well is it time to move on from Duane Brown as well? Or do you think he is doing the classic vet move by waiting till the dog days of training camp are over before he signs?
I obviously am not his agent, but this is something that makes sense logically, given JD said there was a framework for a deal, and yet it is not yet done. I never said he backed out after verbally agreeing. Just that they had some framework, but the price went up after Becton injury beyond that framework. That to me makes logical sense.
which he should’ve taken Ekwonu if he planned on not signing Moses. And believe me I’m the biggest critic of a GM fixing his disastrous decision by drafting the same position with a top 5 pick 2 years later, but the success of our QB is paramount to the future success of the team. Playing silly games at RT that leaves us in a situation to decide between a 37 year old has been or Chuma fucking Edoga to protect our struggling young franchise QB is a sure fire way to remove the word franchise from “franchise QB”.
I would imagine it's a glorified 1 year deal. 2nd year only tacked on to make it look better. I would be very surprised if JD gave Brown (a soon to be 37 year old OT) 2 fully guaranteed years, but maybe that's what he had to do to get this one pushed through. We'll find out soon enough.
Yes and no. I'm willing to bet no one else was offering starting LT reps in August. But the fact that he was visiting and talks started before Becton even went down absolutely shows that Saleh is changing the culture.
No he was not. He was a sub. No one expected Becton to be out ENTIRE year. Moses can't count on that. He got a good offer from a contender to start. For us he is a back-up, and even if the offer is somewhat similar even a bit better, you can't expect the Jets to win out on a free agent wanted by a contender to start, without offering a starting spot. Heck, at this time players would pick Ravens over the Jets given a starting option by both: see Marcus Williams. What you are saying, it's not realistic proposition, and I have Marcus as a proof, and he was going to be a starter here! Come on now, let's be reasonable on this.
