The difference is Chacon pushed a team official, his boss, to the ground.

While it was monumentally stupid of FROD to beat up the old guy, it's a different issue than the Chacon one.

I will not allow my son to root for the yankees but any other team is fair game.

My 2nd favorite team is the Dodgers, so if I were to allow any of my kids to root for any other team besides the Mets, it would be them.

I much prefer the Hanshin Tigers to the Hiroshima Carp although the Ham Fighters has a nice ring to it.

I'm sympathetic to your problem--when I have kids I'll beat them if I find out that they're rooting for the Rangers, but I could never force someone I love to root for the Islanders. I know first hand that that's just too cruel.

Lol, what's wrong with rooting for the Dodgers?

Besides the whole ownership debacle, they run a good baseball organization, always have a strong minor league system and great youth talent/prospects, and also splash the cash in free agency.

They're also one of the 'parent' clubs from where the Mets came from; the two being the Giants and the Dodgers. Fuck the SF giants though.

I know two Mets fans who converted to Yankees fans while in their 20s.

Those my friend would be considered faggots

Seriously though if I ever dumped the Mets I think I would root for the Giants, now that Barroid is gone I can stomach them and I really like their ballpark. Their games are always on by me and they play real baseball. They have NY roots so it's not like I would totally be rooting for a random team. I guess the Dodgers would fit as well but I hate when people wear hats and know nothing about the team they have a lot of those. I could do the Padres as they are sort of local but I don't get their games with Direct TV.

If the giants and dodgers stayed in ny and therefore the mets never came into existence, then I would be a new york baseball giants fan.

I'd love to drop the mets. I really hate everything about them. I don't even like their uniform colors anymore. But how to do this? It is practically in my blood to root for this pathetic team.

And yes, switching from the mets to the yankees is the pinnacle of fan queerness.

Hanshin are my team in the Jap league... I gave Shadetree a Hanshin Tigers cap for Christmas last year. :breakdance:

I'll be up in Tokyo at the end of September, hope to catch a game while I'm there.

You certainly have plenty of options, I like Hanshin as well. My ex was from Sendai, she loved Orix but they sort of no longer exist. She loved baseball so I'm guessing she now roots for the Rakuten Golden Eagles. Her nipples would get hard at the thought of Ichiro. I actually have some Ichiro baseball cards from when he played for Orix. When she took me to Japan we saw a game. (I returned the favor and took her to some Angels/Mariners games) It was Hanhsin against Yokohama and Hansin got rocked. Couldn't get over the all dirt infield. This was in 2000 so believe it or not former Met Shinjo was on the roster but I don't remember if he played or what he did if he did play. If you like the Tigers you may want to get one of these. It's all in Japanese so good luck....

Rumors seem to indicate the the Skankees are checking out Yu Darvish who is on record saying he doesn't want to play in the States but money can change a lot of things.

EVERYONE is looking at Yu Darvish. He's arguably the best pitcher in Japanese history. If, and when, his rights get put on the market, he'll easily eclipse the Matsuzaka mark.

And he has stated on several occasions he'd be open to playing in the states, after he owns every pitching record in Japan. And he has a list of teams he wouldn't play for, altho I can't find who was on it...Alot of East Coast teams, he'd prefer the West...

At the end of the day, I'll bet that the combination of Dice-BB costing over $100 million and the Kei Igawa disaster keep the Yankees away from Darvish.

The Yankees are probably going to throw huge money at Cliff Lee this offseason, CC Sabathia is probably going to opt out of his deal and extract more money from the Yankees next season, and they are still on the hook for 3 more years of AJ Burnett. Even the Yankees can only throw so much money into their starting rotation--I think you'll see them only pursuing sure things for their rotation (which is why they stayed out of it on Aroldis Chapman.)

Darvish is about as close to a sure thing as you'll get, the kid is fucking incredible.
