Ill be happy long as I dont see that fucking retarded play where the Jets run a hurry up play at the 50, fake a snap, and throw a 0 yard pass to our tightend wasting like 20 seconds off the clock again.
I don't really care too much about this because I think people take what people say too seriously in general But if I was a Jets fan that likes to complain about these types of things I guess I would expect him to say something like "We think that Tony's coaching style will mesh well with our personnel to create a very effective red zone offense" I know it is not his style, but hey that is a happy medium between being brutally honest and flat out lying
I am shocked by what pisses people off. Who cares what Rex says about Sparano he hired him I would assume he supports him. Sparano is a respected coach around the league that comes recommended by two of the best coaches in history parcels and coughlin. Being a veteran coach and first time coordinator is not that big of a deal if he is a good coach. Mike martz a supposedly offensive of genius was fired in favor Mike Tice. Schotty was a first time coordinator with the Jets with much less credentials than Sparano when hired. The key here is that Rex and Tony mesh and that Tony knows Football. Now we will see what he can do being the main coordinator he most certainly has the background to be successful so let's see. If he sucks I have no doubt he willed called out. If he does not I am sure their will people on here saying he does anyway
You're trying to justify Ryan lying about the success of Miami's two minute offense by saying "he has to lie because we live in a sue-happy society". How, exactly, is Ryan's lie "protecting" the Jets from lawsuits? It's more like Ryan trying to justify picking Sparano and attempting to cover his own large butt.
Why would Rex go out of his way to make an issue out of something that doesn't yet have to be one? Nobody knows what Sparaono will do in the 2 minute. Rex's nature is to build people up. I really don't see what the issue is. The sue happy society was referenced originally to a poster who is always finding a reason to bash the way the Jets(Woody/Tannenbaum included) always treat PR. I was merely pointing out that quite often the PR activities are drawn up by the legaldepartment and are meant to combat the way the media & legal foruim work in today's society.
I suspect that your happiness will be short lived, like maybe three or four games. Nothing in Sparano's previous gigs suggests that he'll make a particularly good OC, and I think the personnel and the parameters he's been given to work with and within aren't conducive to him being successful. The Jets really don't have the personnel to be successful as a run-first offense, and Sparano doesn't have the innovative mind to put in schemes to make it even semi-successful.
Have to agree with this assessment. I don't think Rex was referring to the Dolphins as a team but Tony's org skills. More Cimini b.s. putting a negative spin on information to create a headline.
They don't have the personnel eh? Funny cause they have sure made your team's run D look putrid over the last several years.
i see that you were saying that in reference to me. my problem with the way that the jets have been doing things is that they do nothing but lie continuously. THIS situation just furthers that. a simple little thing like yeah tony was great organizationally and i think our team can do a great job putting the ball in the endzone would have been great. to talk him up like he is the greatest 2 minute man in the world is absurd. while he may have been referencing his organization he still went and compared him to the BEST 2 MINUTE MAN IN THE WORLD (hehe thats funny, even though its not really true i hope we all call him the 2 minute man). i just think rex does a little TOO much praising, and is mostly full of shit when he does it. and that is annoying.. however i do not have sheer disdain for rex, i think he is a good coach and a pretty decent man. the bagelman and woody are douchebags. that i will give you, i cant stand either one of them.
The Bills run D has been putrid for years. It was somewhat better last season, but then the pass D really sucked. What would the Jets' 2011 29th ranked rushing YPC been if they hadn't fattened that average against the Bills twice? The Jets had (and are likely to have) Slausson and Hunter in place of Faneca and Woody on the OL. They had and will continue to have Greene and Mcknight in place of Jones and Greene or Tomlinson and Greene. None of the current guys are better than the guys they replaced, and none of them took jobs away from the starters with the possible exception of Greene replacing an obviously done LT in 2011. In other words, the Jets replaced quality starters with backups who have been, at best, mediocre as starters between 2009 and 2012. Now, maybe a really brilliant offensive mind could make run-first work with the Jets current personnel, but I just don't see Tony Sparano as having that kind of mind. He seems to have much more of a bean-counter mentality than a creative one.
Since it's you who doesn't have a reasonable rebuttal and who is reduced to making fourth-rate jibes again, it would seem that you see the "dummy" here every time you look in a mirror.

Media continues to form everyone's arguments. Rex was praising Sparano's organizational skills. Not that his offense scored every 2 minute drive, but instead avoiding negative plays. Something that has been the general idea about Sparano: no BS, be accountable. The reason Schottenheimer took the fall with the Jets is because Rex is mostly hands-off with the offense. Sparano had more to do with the offense in Miami, thus Cimini can take Rex's quote out of context and make him look like he is blowing sunshine. How is Sparano a bean-counter and not imaginative enough? Hello? The architect of the wildcat, who utilized a high school offense in the highest level of football is somehow a dullard now. We may not have the talent we have had in Rex's tenure on the offensive side but for opposing teams' fans to just squawk about how we can expect Sparano to suck is really an exercise in prognosticating that doesn't carry any weight. Just like it would be stupid for a Jets fan to say that we will have a top 5 offense with this coordinator change, it is equally as mindless to say we will suck because of the change. He hasn't called a play yet, get off it. It's going to be miserable around July when basketball is over and baseball is in the doldrums and I actually want to talk football and it will still be the offseason, with all the same mind-numbing conversations and pointless chirping going on.
Is there any evidence in his previous gigs he won't be a successful OC either, no. The Jets have the personnel to be a run first offense, they don't have the depth to be one if injuries occur. Again, what evidence is there to say Sparano doesn't have the innovative mind to put schemes in? I don't think he invented the WC but he had the mind to put it in and run it until someone figured it out.
Explain to me how having 3 pro bowl offensive linemen isn't enough fire power to run the football, especially with a coordinator who is going to emphasize it day 1? Slauson isn't Faneca...so what? He was around in 2010 when the ground & pound was still a reality. O-line's primarily operate as a UNIT & not as 5 seperate individuals. Yeah things kind of fell apart last year...but that was true of the whole offense. With the talent in place...why so quick to write them off? Why does Greene/McKnight HAVE to be Jones/LT?Seems to me you are assuming the Jets & their fans are living on past merits to justify how things are going to improve in 2012. Nobody is saying Greene is Jones...or Mcknight is LT. And they don't have to be. All they have to be is themselves. Both players have the skillset to be above average players in this offense. Furthermore, you're writing Greene off after only 1 year of being a starter in which all facets of the offense came across at the seems. Who's to say he doesn't get better(he still is a young player)with the accrued experience, more time in the weight room, & a better offensive philosophy? How can you make ANY assumptions about Joe Mcknight other than his play as an RB has been inconclusive & that he was a pro bowl KR when healthy?Mcknight is entering his 3rd year on the team..and this will be his first real opportunity to contribute to the game day offense. His talent is clear as day. Does he become an impact player? Who knows...but why so quick to write him off? Just because he's not LT? That's not fair.
You wish. The team in Miami had a better WR, a better RB, and similar QB and STILL posted horrid numbers. I was surprised to read it. BTW- I wonder were the Jets ranked in this catagory
