In this day and age of the NFL anything is possible. I don't have high expectations for sure but I know anything is possible. I would think anywhere between 4-8 wins is possible depending on the draft and the rest of the offseason. I don't think the record matters this year, this year should be about bringing in the players that fit this system and building for a run the following year. In this day of the NFL it doesn't take long to rebuild, so yes we are in rebuilding mode but it doesn't need to take long. One thing I can say is I have complete confidence with this FO, we are in good hands.
5 - 11 I expect Mangini to suck as bad as Belly did before he tripped over the GOAT (or at least greatest of present time) ? Tom Brady. Way too many of you confuse a team with a great quarterback as being greatly coached. There was a time when Shanahan looked like a decent coach?when Elway was behind center.
Because of the last place schedule, I figure somewhere between 6 and 9 wins this season. I think that we will surprise some people and win a game or two that nobody expects us to win; but, then again, because of the new systems going in on both sides of the ball, I see us screwing up a few that we can or should win also.
Remember its football any given sunday and all that I think we will be fine this year and much better next year.......The "what ifs" in football are endless example Peyton chokes again reggie bush cant make the transition and so on so don't give up on a season that hasn't even begun
The Jets will have a good shot at drafting Brady Quinn in 07' after going 5-11 in 06'. A new rookie H/C with 2 rookie coordinators spells T-R-O-U-B-L-E. Hopefully the team comes together late and knocks off a playoff contender. As long as Mangini makes progress with the team I'll be happy.
That is extremely optimistic, because we still don't know what the offensive line will look like. For 9-10 wins you have to assume Curtis can still play at an elite level, and I have lost my belief in him as far as being a dominant player. He is run of the mill now but hopefully he can help develop Cedric. I think 7-9 is the best we will do regardless of anything. I don;t mind though, I plan to watch our young guys develop more than I will pay attention to the scoreboard. I really do hope Chad can come back healthy though.
I know that was kinda overboard right? LOL!!! But the AFC East is no longer the feared division it used to be.
We have potential talent though, I mean, we are young, right..... We already know Vilma and Coles and Coleman are good, Miller and Barrett have potential, Adrian Jones, and maybe Pennington will come back....but you're kinda right....
Jtuds...I agree this team is NOT the talent filled team we thought it to be a few seasons ago, even though 2 seasons ago we were a kick away from the AFC Championship, this team still had ALOT of holes in it. and that got exposed last season.
playing with your 3rd and 4th string quarterbacks most of the season has a way of bringing out the worst in a team. Not to mention the multitudes of other injuries the Jets had. The team most certainly has holes to fill this year, but last year I think it was less about having holes that got exposed and more about the misfortune of injuries
Belichick tripped over Brady while accepting only intelligent, disciplined football players, so I think BB had a lot to do with the assembly of this cap-era dynasty. In an era of superstars, he looked for the guys that clocked in and put their heads down. There's a lot to be said for building a character staff.
I think it's possible for the Jets to go .500 or better, but EXTREMELY unlikely. Half the roster will be new faces. Not just half the defensive starters, half the entire roster. There will be ZERO chemistry. Chad will have the same latent injury, but more scar tissue. I think it might be too much to hope for his to ever return to starting form, much less 2002 form. Our running game will be stifled with an O-line jelling period. Whatever startintg QB, most likely Ramsey, will get smashed relentlessly. Our defense may do okay out of the gate, but they could eventually become frustrated with the lack of offensive support. I guess I can understand peoples' impatience, but it is unrealistic.
