What is your point champ??? GM already dismissed your unspoken, implied point.

Sure I do not remember Walsh being on the CS of the Niners when Seifort won the SB in year 1 of his tenure. Do you? So it was Seifort team not Walshes team anymore

A poster said it takes a coach 5 years to teach his team how to win a championship. All I am doing is pointing out that Seifort won the SB in year 1 of his tenure as a HC

George Seifert is horrible example of this because he was a coach on the 49ers team for YEARS prior to his being elevated to head coach. When he took over Walsh's team all he had to do was hold the friggin' reins.

Glad to see someone put the dumb in dumber back.

There are exceptions to everything, but as GM already pointed out it was Walsh who did the legwork (years of teaching) for that team.

the niners that Seifert inherited are completely different form Jets that Mangini inherited...any blind man can see that, but ill go ahead and make a prediction anyways since you cant seem to understand simple football logic

i predict that in 2007, Champ's typically posts will continue to pollute our messageboards, and he will win roughly around 1 out of 500 arguments

Haha, I expect in 2007 that you will be negative and complain all season.

As for the Jets, I think you put the best team together that you can every year and take your best shot at it every year. Nobody expected the playoffs in 2006, so we'll see what happens. Same can be said for just about every team, the Saints got as close to the Super Bowl this past year as the Patriots did, who expected that?

I do not remember Seifert building a 49ers team. I guess he was really the genius behind Walsh. Walsh is a sham. All HAIL SEIFERT!!

It just shows the utter simplicity of champ's thought process. If you are on a Super Bowl winner you are the best ever, if you aren't you suck. Doesn't matter how you got there, what else happened, etc. Black and white, night and day in champ's world. Mostly black and night.

Ok so you pointed out a HC that won. I'll give you that... but as the others said while I was at lunch, it's a piss poor example becuase he inherited a team that knew how to win...

The same could be said for Barry Switzer. That ass wasn't an NFL coach but he inherited a team that knew what winning was all about....

i'm just curious how you come to the conclusion the pats will be in cap hell by 2010 b/c of a thomas and others(i remember you quoting this in a past thread). are you a guru of the cap? b/c i've not seen the pats in cap hell since bb has been there. i don't know team cap numbers at all but, if you have specific #'s indicating such, would you share it with the rest of us?
from what i've observed in the past years that quote seems to be wishful thinking more than fact!!!!

This thread is a perfect example of why this forum is almost unreadable in the offseason. I tried to write up something that could stimulate some conversation and champ throws out perhaps the dumbest point in history and that becomes the topic of the thread. Good grief.

My expectations are high. I expect an improved team (>10 wins, playoff WINS, and a SB run). The schedule is tougher, so it will really put this team to the test. Chad needs to stay healthy again of course or it's all coput. And we MUST have a good defensive draft. The Jets O is pretty much set except for OG. We need a big DT, #1 CB, and maybe pass rushing LB. Then we can make a run at the dance.

This team went 10-6 last yr with a playoff birth, now they must improve on that, and make a run. And I fully expect them too.

Uh oh, RobA thinks they're going 10-6 - that probably means 7-9. :(

No, I never said that (I said they need more than 10 wins this yr), I think they will go 12-4 personally.

Sweet. We haven't even had a draft or June cuts, and we're already predicting records.

While I do agree it is a shame that this thread got derailed by Champ and those who choose to match wits with him.

On the other hand - I thought it was entertaining as all hell to read Champ's posts. I can just picture him at his keyboard typing his response in complete frustration that you guys are so thickheaded that you don't get his damn argument! God it's not rocket science for Christ's sake. Seifert won the the SB in his FY. So obviously Lombardi is a quack.

The guys I work with all thought I was going insano cause I was laughing so damn hard reading through this thread. I tell ya - if you have the right perspective - reading Champ's posts really are quite a pleasure.

It was interesting this offseason that Tannenbaum did not sign the "big name"
While the Pats signed several "name" guys and are flirting with Randy Moss. I believe you'll see a emphasis of strengthening the OL and DL in the 07 draft with the skill positionns being addressed next year in F/A and the 08 draft.

Rome wasn't built in a day the same can be said for the Tangini Jets. No one could have predicted a 10-6 year for us last year. To the casual Jet fan they will expect the same or better in 07'. This will be a year where we may take a step back to a sub 500 year. Some might be right in saying this could be Chad's last year as the starting QB. One thing is for sure this training camp will be as brutal as last year's. Mangini is building a Jet squad that will be every bit as physical and football savy as their N.E. neighbors.

Im guessing maybe 10-6, 11-6. Definitely a playoff spot and possibly the division. Similar to this year but the team's a bit better overall
