He's one of my top guys to watch this year- I'd be very happy if he got some playing time tomorrow. _
0 reason for him to see the field tomorrow unless he's the 5th receiver on a last ditch effort Hail Mary... which won't happen because we will be up 14 by mid fourth. I think he's going to be very good especially with this group of receivers but putting him in tomorrow would be irresponsible.
LOL he isn't pushing Decker out of #2 unless there's an injury. He will be battling for #3 spot if his own health lets him compete for that spot. Lots of talent that could play #3 this year.
No need to rush him. We have Owusu to stretch the field and Fitz isn't exactly known for his big arm so throwing the ball deep won't be a big part of what we do anyway. You don't just activate Devin to run a go route on a hail mary, that's a waste of a roster spot. We need somebody to contribute as a receiver and who can play special teams. Once he's ready to contribute as a receiver he'll be back, whether it's week 2 or week 3. Until then we have better options. I don't think Owusu will be active once Devin returns, so that probably means we'll have Bilal or Stacy return kicks instead. All that will be part of this decision of who to activate on gameday. It's not just swapping out a receiver.
I don't want him thrown to the wolves until he is 100%. Cleveland has a great OL but I think we can take them at home without Smith while he continues to heal up.
