Two unrelated stats. Look at most big passing number games, usually it's a team that's behind desperately trying to catch up.
Earlier in the century, we had like 3 or 4 games where we kept on coming from behind in the first 5 games. Maybe it was 2000, but I think it was under Pennington.
This is old news, this was discussed to death earlier in the year. That's why I was pushing so hard for Sanchez to have a 300 yard game, just to get it over with. Who knows if Mark was thinking about it, I know I was.
I think we came back in two straight games with Chad in 2003 when he came back from the injury. One at home vs the Giants down I think 14 but lost in OT because Doug Brien couldn't make a kick (sound familiar?) and the next week at Oakland when we won in OT on Brien FG. I forget how far down in the Oakland game but it was a late comeback.
Even with Mangini, we still tried to run, even if it was with Cedric Houston, Leon Washington, and Kevan Barlow... I could also say 46 months ago, Kevan Barlow and Justin McCareins were starting for this team.
Right before that we had curtis conway starting... and before that was the mattew hatchette fiasco... god did we have issues early in the decade with wr's and stone hands... Thank god we upgraded to Braylon and Holmes. oh wait....
