DBJ, You're an idiot for posting this thread. I thought you were better than this. I have to say this is a def, W for the Jets. Thank you for the awesome thread......Love, Jetsvilma28
I didn't say anything about them watching the Raiders game. There's a S&M convention in San Francisco on Monday.
this is def the type of game that the jets usually lose, and has every jet fan that has been there for some of the other utter devistation saying...same old F#@kin' jets after the loss. i would like to believe that a loss tomorrow is nearly impossible under the new regime...(barring some kind of catastrphy)...i know..."any given sunday" and all that. but on paper the raiders are so over matched it seems close to a given that we win... and those are the types of games were usually watching being given away. by the way, I LOVE THAT PIC IN YOUR SIG WITH THE HEADSTONES. so many hurtful and crushing memories in that picture. that should def bring everyone here back to earth.
Again, when have the Jets lost a game like this? They've never, ever even played in a game like this. At home against turd team in season finale with playoff spot on the line. They have never been in this exact situation. Sure, they have lost games to turds in Week 14 and 15 games and what have you. But never have they blown a season finale against a turd with a playoff spot on the line.
I think we'll win, but I'm definitely counting on a "I can't believe this is fucking happening" moment during the game.
Yeah but... the got an invite on the playoff bus!!! I mean Herm showed us the letter!!! The bus was leaving and they were on it...
First, I don't think they will lose. I am just saying that given the track record of this team for monumental, rip-your-heart-out defeats, it seems strange that everyone thinks they will win. It is a strange position to be in. I recognize that much of the reason for the optimism is that the Raiders are awful. I just get nervous because the greater the expectations that deeper the chasm we can fall into.
JV28, I'm not predicting in any way that the Jets will lose. I, like everyone else, believe they will win handily. What makes me nervous is that the Jets always seem to play poorly when expectations are high (look no further than the Buffalo game a few weeks back). However, I have never felt more confident in a coaching staff than I do about this one. I know the team will be well prepared. I think what it really comes down to is less defeating the Raiders and more conquering the ghosts of Jets past. We've all been burned badly before. I just want this game over and done with and get back to being a team nobody expects to do anything from (that is when we are at our best). DbJ
I think the Jets have a chance to lose. The things the Raiders do poorly, so do we. The things we do well, so do the Raiders. I'm worried.....
I am also worried a little about this game but I also think we will win. Although the Raiders have a good defense I think we are all overestimating what they can do.
Fate is a fickle bitch. Personally, I prefer to go about this game with a tad more humility than most. No Namath guarantees here, no sir!
I don't want to throw out overused cliches, but you are what your record says you are. At 2-13, the Raiders are not just losing, they're finding ways to lose. Buffalo three weeks ago was a .500 team still in the playoff hunt going up vs. a heated division rival. Oakland is two games above going doughnut this year; three of their top five players are gone for the season and won't play today. If the Jets were somehow to try to give the game away, I don't think the Raiders would know how to pick it up and run away. I kept muttering to myself on Monday Night after the Kassell miscue that good teams win these games no matter the circumstances. Jets then hold Miami to a FG, go down and win the game. Trust your eyes with this team this year. That is what Mangini has brought to the table for me.
Yea, I don't like it. At the same time I believe Mangini will have them ready to play some football. I can remember saying that about other teams coaches but never our own. Being Jets fans, however, means that we all know that the shitty team steals a game every once in a while.
One thing going for the Jets is they've pretty much beaten every team they were supposed to all year, minus the Browns. They've even beaten a team or two they weren't supposed to beat.f So if that history holds true, this should be a win. The only way I can see them losing is if the Raider D does the scoring. It's a pretty good D, too.
