Fakterx, I have never seen such a breakdown. Fantastic! A lot of notes and work went into this... you should be working for the Jets organization! Thanks very much. This is a great breakdown of what goes into making a rookie a probowler.
Hmm...a workout warrior drafted for his heralded pass-rushing prowess only seems to show signs of competent run defense. Wow, that sounds mighty familiar. It's still preseason, he's just a rookie, yadda yadda yadda, I know. Excellent analysis though, Fakterx.
to me, the biggest concern about gholston is the fact that he's not using very many moves. I was watching him simply attempt to push back tackles and that won't work on this level. He really needs to develop some rip, swim, and spin moves to succeed. His play recognition will get better with more experience.
once again as others have said great analysis and thank you for it!!! definitely some positive stuff here, definitely some progress and that is what i think we were all looking for a few weeks ago. chances are he will not be a pro bowl 20 sack guy this year but he doesnt necessarily need to be. i am VERY VERY happy that it appears he was a little more aware of his surroundings in pass coverage (although someone stated otherwise in this thread) coming off of coverage to cover a back is EXACTLY what he was not showing the ability to do in the first game, so he couldnt have been too lost. a little scared too about the lack of moves made while rushing. definitely not a hugely productive game stat wise or difference maker wise but sounds to be major improvement. lets see what this week holds.
Yea. This is a real big issue...I mean he's a big dude and all but a pass rusher should have the ability to make himself small and I'm not seeing it from him yet.
