Maybe Kathy? Merv would have been a mid-3rd rounder for sure.

I got this feeling of him myself from watching vids. Surprised he fell this far, but I don't think he was worth a 1st.

Something tells me Rex Ryan will absolutely love a guy whose motor and work ethic are serious questions

La Canfora reported that the Patriots were on the phone with him and ready to take him when the Panthers called and gave them a 2nd next year for the pick.

Just out of curiosity, is it even possible to merge intra-subforum threads? (in other words a Jets forum thread with a draft forum thread)?

I'm sure the Patsies will take him in the 4th round. I trust Sexy Rexy to make a good pick when we are on the clock.

I would be wary of his 'motor' if he was picked in the first or early second. I don't think he'll take the season(s) off if he gets 4th round money. He'll play hard for a contract. Once that contract gets negotiated, tender him for a pick and ditch him.

If he's there at pick 124 then i think we should go after him. Or maybe Cam Thomas.

The Seahawks and Pete Carroll passed him up a few times now, and they could certainly use some help on their D-Line.. I think that is a major red flag.

Thank God for Carolina. This is one spot where I wouldn't mind trading up to grab him.

Everson Griffen. The guy's a first round talent, but his attitude has pushed him down the board. I wonder if his interviews were terrible during the combine.

The Jets are in good shape - there's still plenty of potentially good OLBs available.

There is obviously a good reason why this kid hasn't been taken in the first three rounds. JPP and Griffen are my two biggest question marks in this entire draft (from a potential and talent based standpoint).

I don't want this guy anywhere near a Jets uniform.

You're telling me you wouldn't take a guy with amazing physical abilities in the 4th round?

That's just ridiculous, man. It's the fourth round...and he's considered to be a top 25 talent by the majority of the scouts out there.

At this point, Griffen would be a situational pass rusher. I think he'd be a hell of a pick up.

I know what you are saying, and I'm not disputing his talent. I think he has all the traits to be a very good NFL player, if he would just use it. I know you are right, but I just can't shake this feeling. It's the same feeling I had about Vernon Gholston when he was heading into the draft. The lack of motor, desire, and passion for this game. The inconsistency issue, disapearing from games, etc...

I'll be the first to admit it though..

I'm guilty of being biased because of us getting burnt by, VG.

Do you not get the same vibe I do with this kid? Do you not feel like he is just in it for the money and he doesn't give two shits about football? I feel like he has the same attitude and desire as Vernon Gholston, and we all know that isn't a good thing at all, no matter how you slice it.

Now, I'm fully aware that he is a much better prospect from a technical standpoint then, Gholston.

I just can't shake this feeling. If he did land on the Jets, I would deal with it, and pray for the best. No question. I just doubt it would work out.

The only thing they have in common is position and great physical abilities.

Vernon Gholston was the 6th overall pick. Everson Griffen is available in the 4th round. It's okay to gamble on a player now. There won't be that much money invested into Griffen.

Watch them play. They play the game a lot differently. The guy has a ton of pass rushing moves, unlike Gholston, who can only bull rush blockers.

Everson Griffen took plays off because he team was usually winning by a lot.

I think he rubbed teams the wrong way in interviews. That's the only reason I can see for this kind of fall.

I wondered about his intelligence. He comes off horrible in interviews.

Ehh, he's a defensive end/outside linebacker. How much do you really have to think? It's not like he's a quarterback.

He just has to rely on his football instincts, which he clearly has. I know you've seen him play, so I know you've seen how smart he usually is on the field.

His drive and attitude probably crushed his draft stock.
