I was always in favor of getting Braylon back, and then i was in favor of getting Plax. But the more I think about it, why don't we try to get WRs in the draft? It's true that a great WR will make your QB better, but I think it works much more the other way around. There's plenty of good WR prospects in this draft. Let's take a chance on one in the first couple rounds.
We would be much better right now with Braylon, I don't give a rats ass what he's doing with SF, It doesn't translate to what he meant and would do for us. Plax i hope gets better as this season goes on cause as of now he ain't shit.
WR's take more time to develop than any position but QB. Having put in the 3 years developing Sanchez that we'll have put in by the end of this season the last thing we want to do is add another young receiver or two to the mix and go through another two years of having Sanchez and his receivers get to know each other. Going and getting Braylon Edwards, assuming he is healthy, would be a very smart move if the FO wants to try to win a Super Bowl next year. He and Sanchez have 26 starts together. It wouldn't be like bringing in yet another new guy to try to fit in the mix.
HUH??? That is retarded. Braylon is injured and hasn't done shit. We don't need to assume anything - he sucks this season. 4 catches and no TDs. At least Plax has 2 TDS. Anybody who would rather have an injured drunk with no TDs over Plaxico w/2 TDs is a frikken moron.
I'd love too have Braylon back on the Jets. He'd make perfect sense for this team next year. A WR that knows the system, plays well, and IMO still has a strong urge too be on this team. That way we could draft an OLB in the first draft, an OT in the second, and a WR in the third for Depth . Hopefully sign a safety like Michael Griffin or Laron Landry too play with Jim and then go for depth in rounds 4-7. I think that would be huge for this team because it's obvious that this year we had the wrong plan with Plax, Mason, and Hunter. If Braylon seems too be way off then we hafts completely flip the script, which means we go young at the areas on need which concerns me because I can't expect a rookie too come in that can put up #2 WR numbers (unless we drafted Blackmon or Jeffery, which I doubt).
I think Braylon had the best repoire with Sanchez last season. Maybe that was because they had a year under their belt but I think there was more than that. Him and Sanchez were close and they even hung out off the field. They had a feel for each other and I think that's what we miss most. When we needed a play that colt game it was Braylon and Sanchez that knew what would work. I don't think we know if anything works at this point.
Screw this talk, I stand by what I said and draft a guy. I understand the low probability of striking gold here and the time it takes for a rookie WR to develop, but I think proper scouting can find a guy that's likely to fit. Sure, Braylon knows the system. He was alright as a Jet. I liked him more than Santonio. But still, we know what we're getting and it's nothing special. He had one season. Why pay #1 money for a #2 or #3?
I mentioned this in the 2011 team flaws thread...... when Braylon left, so did the downfield passing game
Absolutely. He was a deep threat that opened things underneath for Holmes and Keller and Sanchez had great chemistry with Braylon.
Tannenbaum went with a 34-year old receiver out of football for 2 years over a 27-year old guy who went to 2 AFCCG.
But you have to remember that there was a great CB out there in free agency and Tannenbaum only had a billion dollars committed at CB already between Revis and Wilson. You have to look at the big picture here. Getting Asomugha was the big priority for a guy who thinks that Madden 2011 is the last word in GMing.
