Barlow has great potential..hes proven in the NFL and ran behind a horrible line. I like this deal and a conditional pick is good because if he comes over and rushes for 1200 yards..a 2nd round pick isnt that bad.

I like Barlow better than Duckett, and if we gave up a 2nd day pick, I'm fine with it. 1st day pick and I'd be pissed. 5th and back would be best. :)

I suspect part of why the Niners wanted to move him was they were commited to Gore and basically knew Barlow wasn't giving 100% in San Fran anymore. Hopefully a new home equals a new attitude.

BTW: I think Barlow has a thigh injury, so let's hope he can pass the physical.

Assuming it wasn't a very high pick we gave up, this is a pretty solid pickup. I don't expect a MVP season from him, but he'll help us.

If Barlow is healthy he's a beast!!!..hell he played for the WORST team in the NFL the last 2 years by far..If the line can open holes like they did against NFC power Redskins, Barlow will have a huge year.He is more of a complete back as opposed to Duckett plus he has break away speed. We have an extra #2 next year I believe so if we gave up a 4th rounder...I think Barlow would go higher then 4th if he was in the 2007 draft and he is only 27..great pick up by Tannenbaum

Yes, SF had a horrible line, and Clements was a backup on that line. :eek:hmy:

Still I think Clements looked decent yesterday. Infinitely better than Adrian Jones. I think Barlow would be our primary back and should get 1000 yards this year. That's right, I think he's better than what we have and therefore we are not using a RBBC.

rumored to be a 4th rounder with the potential to go up...don't like it - what are the triggers, a 5th would have been fair anything more i think is too much for him

I'll say this... we, as fans, are a WHINY bunch. The jets went out and dealt what probably is a LATE ROUND pick for a starting running back. If it doesn't pan out, it costs you a LATE ROUND PICK. GET OVER IT. It was a good move.

I think you guys are going a little overboard on the Barlow-bashing. Is he going to be the franchise RB for the next 5 years...doubtful. However, that does not mean he can't be a serviceable back for the next year or so and make a meaningful contribution. I'd like to remind people that Priest Holmes was not a dominant player in Baltimore. In the right circumstance, players can make a dramatic improvement. Assuming we didn't give up a high pick, I'm not sure I see a down side. Let's see how it goes.
