    This isn't the same.

B.C. understands that it's a stepping stone school for a higher-tier program. Its football program, successful though it may be, can't grow any bigger than it is. Tom Coughlin, to his great credit, was able to get the trustees to stretch Alumni Stadium to its present capacity, and it's still no where close to most other big-time college football venues. Tom O'Brien stayed ten years at B.C., brought stability to the program after Dan Henning tore down everything that Coughlin built. No one was happy when he left, but B.C. people understood - they could pay a coach an obscene amount and it's still going to be a job someone takes until they get their next job.

That's why Jagodzinski should be fired. Gene DeFilippo went out on a HUGE limb when he hired the guy. He wasn't even close to the favorite candidate. Then, after just one successful year, Jags asked for a raise - and got it. Now, even though he's (again) a dark horse candidate for the Jets job, at the most important time for recruiting, he's going to return DeFilippo's loyalty by making it publicly known he's open to a new job and destabilizing any final pitches to recruits. Frankly, even if Jags doesn't step foot anywhere near the Acela platform, he should be fired. We expect football coaches to be mercenaries, but it's still not too much to ask for loyalty.

PLUS, as a Jets fan, this is a total Brett Favre thing, and that might just be even more upsetting than Jagodzinski's B.C. drama. This is about Jags and his ten-year relationship with Brett Favre, and how Woody just won't give up trying to convince the guy not to retire.

    Bah!

That's exactly how I read the situation, too.

Isn't that grounds for unlawful termination. Unless he has wording in his contract.

Gene DeFilippo (AD) is a bright man, I'm sure they'll be no ramnifications.

Not if they pay him or if their is a clause in his contract specifically forbidding him from interviewing. Then it is just a breach of contract and perfectly legal to boot him.

None of the sports pages are reporting this. Where did you see it?

Well, that's not right. They said they WOULD fire him if he interviewed but the interview isn't supposed to take place until today.

The advancing news story is that his contract prohibited him from interviewing for a NFL position for a period of three years. If true, it doesn't get much clearer than that.

My source was the radio, which isn't very linkable.

Yes, that certainly gives them the right to boot him. The fact he is going ahead must mean he wants out anyway.

That just says what we know. If he interviews he will be fired. What I was questioning was the person that said he had already been fired. I have still not seen any reputable links stating that because the interview has yet to take place. It is tonight. IF they fire him before he interviews they WILL have to pay him every cent he has coming.
