I would have bet the Jets would make the playoffs this year if: 1) Adams wasn't traded. He was the team's best pass rusher. 2) Moseley didn't opt out. He was a dynamic force stuffing the middle. Now I tend to agree with the 8-8 assessment. 1) Darnold, now in his 3rd season, must show that he is on his way to be one of the top QB's in the league and I think he will. 2) The O-line will be improved just by the addition of Becton. He looks like a freak of nature and if he performs anywhere near the way he looks, it will be a plus for the offense. 3) Now the D is on the hot seat to perform. Someone will have to step up at MLB. Have to have continued DL improvements from Shepard and Williams. Pass rush is back to a big ? as usual. DB performance will depend on PR.
ESPN is stupid. It's like the CNN of sports networks. Nonsense top to bottom If the Jets are 2-2 after a few weeks...doubt they stumble to 3-9 after. We're beating New England once this year and we're going to take both from Miami. Jets will be 7-9 but a much better 7-9 than 2019. Jets can upset 1 or 2 good teams this season.
That's very optimistic. Not that the Jets will win 5 games, but that they will play the entire season. Get ready for Act II.
I think 5-11 is fair. We have a new offensive line and didn’t do much to bring in top talent in the free agency. Granted we might have done well in the draft but we won’t know for a year or two. Regardless, we still have no edge rusher and still no reliable WR1 as of today at least. Their actions speak louder than their words here; they aren’t looking to compete this year.
