No, the Idzik era will end..he picks the players despite what some here think. He has almost 50 million in cash and a slew of picks which will probably include 4 comp picks as well, if he can't put enough talent on the field with that to provide a playoff team then he should be fired immediately.
The Jets could go 0-16 next year and the Idzik era wouldn't end. GM's get more than 2 years and usually at least 2 head coaches.
HAHAHAHAAAAA so true! That's sg3/Dumpstein's MO. Maniacal fanaticism towards whomever is the current guy(he LOVED Sanchez just as he loves Rex now) and absolutely shits all over him when he's gone (just like he does with Sanchez now and what he'll do to Rex if he gets fired). One of those posters that makes these boards hard to read sometimes and what gets him banned here and at JetsInsider on a regular basis. Spot on post. Loved the way you fixed his quote  _
Yes, because all rookies (especially those selected by comp picks, which is going to be one in round 1 and the rest in round 6 or later) are expected to make immediate impacts. Playoffs for sure! I think we'll be a playoff team next year, but it hinges on the development of Geno. It's asinine to think Idzik will be fired if we go 9-7 next year and miss the playoffs.
What are you suppose to keep them in the film room the day of the game? I am sick of people using Dave and Busters as an excuse for losing that game unless they got fucking wasted there. The Bills healthy have one of the best secondaries in the league.
NFL network just reported Rex is being brought back but will be asked to make staff changes for defensive coaches.
I had heard this before but just heard it again on a pregame show. The Jets have 7 assistant/position coaches whose contracts are up. This is going to be a crucial decision to sort through. It will be tough if not impossible to sign them to 1 year deals. This makes it even more highly unlikely that Rex gets to coach out his contract, either he is going to get extended or cut loose. Woody is not going to want to sign these coaches to multi-year deals only to cut bait after next season. I still don't think it is a done deal that Rex is staying, but if he does he will be extended along with his coaches and I think then there is absolutely no chance he gets fired next season (even if he goes 4-12). This is a make or break decision - we are committing to at least 2 more if not 3 of Rex, or change directions. My gut tells me the right decision is to cut Rex loose now. My gut also tells me in typical Jets fashion we will make the wrong move, keep Rex and in 2016, 80% of this board will claim they wanted Rex gone years ago.
There was no specifics just said he is being asked to make staff changes on the defensive side. My number 1 guess would be Mcdonald and Smith are gone after the way we played the pass this year.
Brian VanGorder won't be missed - we need someone to improve the play of Coples and Davis. Get them to the next level.
He most likely means have you seen the Jets offense lately? And they're making changes to the defensive staff. Logic dictates making changes on offense. So in Jets logic, that means making changes on the other side of the ball
I'm still not sold on Idzik so I'll go ahead and agree with this His draft picks this year aside from Richardson and Bohannan have been mediocre.
I'll go one further. I'm not sold on Idzik having full personnel control (including coaches) after reading this article. It sounds like he's not calling the shots on Rex's future, rather Woody is.
I'm not sold on Rex staying if he needs to make defensive changes. Rex strikes me more as the guy who'll fall on his sword rather than scapegoat his assistants.
