His career is not over only his season is. He will be signed somewhere as a backup with a chance to compete for the starting job.

We are a much better team without him. He has been the problem on offense. An OC didn’t make Mark not be able to read defenses or throw accurate passes or make stupid decisions. Mark did that.

Mark wasn’t “ruined by offensive coordinators”. Offensive coordinators were ruined by Mark. Let that be some other teams problem. We are a much better team with nearly anyone at QB than this guy.

Injuries are a part of the game. It was a good break for the franchise because we get to play Geno all year and see what we have. Tough break for Mark personally, but it's not a career-threatening injury.

I appreciate his efforts in the playoff victories and wish him well, but I am not sorry to see the last of him.

You people are crazy. Injury or not this was Dirty Sanchez's last season as a professional QB PERIOD!

As far as feeling sorry for his shoulder, I'll trade a shoulder that gets sore in the rain for four years of banging the hottest models including KATE UPTON.

Seriously how often do you find someone who is obviously terrible at their job get a chance to rise to the top despite obvious incompetence (please no George Bush jokes this is not a political forum)

this is pretty much where i am at.
i thought he was going to turn the corner until the end of 2011. but he didn't and the unfortunate contract extension really mucked up the waters.
the fact that he got hurt this year is the kind of blessing in disguise the team needed to quiet things down around the qb position and let us move forward.
thanks for 2009-10 mark and good luck where ever you end up

i am betting on the raiders

The guy stoled $50 million from the Jet. Used his status to sleep with many fine women and made plenty of more money being on commercials he never deserved..... Yeah, I pity him.

he stole? how did he do that? did he hold a gun to tannys head so tanny would use the 5th pick on him? did he forge a check out of woody's check book?
gtfo with "he stole" he was paid accordingly for his draft slot at the time and than was offered an extension.
but i am sure you would have turned down both contracts if you felt you didn't deserve it.
its one thing to be disappointed about the fact that we have to start over because he didn't pan out,but shit like this is fucking stupid

That's harsh. He didn't steal $50 million from the Jets - Tannenbaum was stupid enough to give it to him. The fact of the matter is he seems like a good guy who just doesn't have the talent to be a starting QB in the NFL - he's not accurate enough or consistent enough and, even worse, his decision making and reads are highly questionable. He's still making rookie mistakes in his 5th year and that's unacceptable. Rex's defenses and their running game were good enough to hide some of these problems for the first few years, but if you're going to have a team built around a solid D, having a quarterback who leads the league in turnovers for 2 years in a row is a serious problem.

That all being said, I wish him well in the future and I was sorry to see him injured, but it was definitely time for the Jets to move on.

Meh, I'm sorry things didn't work out for him here and wish him the best. I am thankful that we don't have a QB controversy any more, except for the pro-Simms crowd, but they are a small and somewhat stupid lot.

Just spoke to @MarkSanchez who said doctors "pleasantly surprised" by his "progress" and plan is to rehab & "get back on field" for '13 Jets

    Rich Eisen ‏@richeisen 1m
Sanchez said he is eager to be there for Geno, but added he's disappointed in getting hurt because "I won the competition. There's no doubt"

What Mark Sanchez said to @richeisen is the football equivalent of starting to draw up divorce papers. The positioning has begun.
