Good post. The Jets had the same problem preseason that they had at season's end. Injuries. Kerley,Holmes,& Keller all missed games. O-line had alot of moving parts too. Moore was allowed to go to C-Mart's induction, Mangold to see his sister in the olympics & there was the whole Wayne Hunter/Jeff Otah/Austin Howard saga. On top of that Rex & Sparano both overemphasized keeping the offense vanilla to avoid putting too much on tape.
If every 6th or 7th round pick was like Matt Slauson, that would be very good drafting. Solid contributors who aren't game changers but provide depth and can hold their own at their position. Then you got home run picks like Antonio Brown, Alfred Morris, and of course Brady.
Yeah it's early, but now that rookie camp's open, I'm getting a little antsy about Milliner & Richardson.
*crickets* Anyone hear/read anything lately on Milliner or Richardson? Or even rookie camp in general for that matter?
The jury is still out on Alfred Morris... Dude had one good season, lets not get carried away just yet. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 2
There's no reason to think that these deals won't get done very soon, since the rookie wage scale takes care of the most painful details. Don't sweat it.
Milliner was our first pick and we haven't anything about him He's my favorite though, kid is going to be special
yeah you are right. i would like them to get it over with stat tho.. do the rookies come in a day or 2 earlier, or does the whole team arrive at same time?
Got it-thx abyz; just being a tad jittery esp. given my "SEC-chauvinistic-wanna-git-it-done" picks (Milliner/Richardson) just sitting there essentially
I'm starting to get alittle worried. Mainly b/c with the rookie wage scale there really ISN'T any wiggle room. This appears to be a black & white issue in which the offset language either is or isn't included. Idzik doesn't appear willing to budge & neither do the players. What's concerning is most of the picks in front of both guys have already signed w/ the offset language included. That should've been the ice breaker...but it's been awfully quiet. Could be a stalemate.
A lot of teams with their first round draft picks haven't been signed yet. Call me when our rookies are the only ones not signed
Richardson signed!!! 10 million over 4 years I've heard. 2 down one to go: http://www.ganggreennation.com/2013/7/24/4555242/jets-sign-sheldon-richardson
Eric Blumberg @BlumbergOTB 1h Former #Mizzou DT Sheldon Richardson reportedly on the verge of 4-yr/$10M+ deal with the #Jets. Yep, just need Milliner.
