He'll want to go to s SB contender. A team like New England or Green Bay. I could see Carolina throwing up a first for him.
Not sure Washington has the cap room to do this. They got hit with that penalty over the uncapped year and things have been tight since then with no rollover for them.
Carolina would be an interesting spot if they have room+picks, they've been looking for a weapon across from Smith. Please not New England, no need to give them something like that making their lives easier and saving them from their poor acquisition of WR talent. I don't see the Jets getting together package to make this work for Fitz. The contract is large and I think we will get outbid by more desperate teams. I would love to have him, but it would probably require mortgaging our future. The only way I see us doing that is if Geno (or I guess Simms for all you fans of his) goes on a MVP like tear the next 8 games of the season and puts the team on their back.
They have a WR much better than Smith now, his name is Ted Ginn. He's put on some muscle and has been ballin but Cam and/or Rivera are too stupid to gameplan to give him the ball. No, just force it into double coverage so Smith's old loudmouth ass doesn't get cranky.
Were just gonna have to wait until free agency n draft to revamp the WR core,They will want a first round pick at first it aint worth it
That what gets me with a lot of poster on here. They never want to pay a great player big money. This guy is a beast go get him.
The JETS will have the money next year and Larry is a #1 WR in this league. It's not like he misses games, all he does is produce on the field. Regardless of him turning 31 come next year, he would be a huge upgrade to the JETS WR position because odds are Holmes won't be brought back. Right now Geno has Kerley, Hill, Nelson, and Cumberland to throw the ball too. Those are not premier weapons in the league by any stretch of the imagination. Put Fitzgerald in that equation and throw in a young explosive TE and RB and the JETS offense can be something special for the next four years.
Ted Ginn while he has gotten better, still cannot catch the ball consistently. Fitzy would 100% make everyone else's lives easier on the CAR offense.
me thinks we may be saying that about our stephen hill in another year or 2. and i agree - there is a reason ginn is not a full time WR.
Just watch what happens with Wilkerson. That's our big contract this off-season and Idzik's MO is to take his time with it and get it right.
agree that this should be priority, me thinks coples will be the odd man out of the contract triangle of wilk/richardson/coples. by default it makes the OLB position a priority focus next offseason, again.
http://overthecap.com/cap.php?Name=Larry Fitzgerald&Position=WR&Team=Cardinals <-- Fitgerald would be a huge upgrade but he's not gonna be cheap. Picks + a lot of salary cap. Considering how much Larry Fitgerald is making, perhaps he's available for just a 3rd?
I think the only way any team trades for him is with a restructure in place. Agree with the people that say we need some veteran talent around our youth. Geno could use a leader out there, and someone like Hill could benefit big time with a player of Fitzgerald teaching him the finer points. Honestly, Hill was nothing but a "go-route" raw receiver when we drafted him. Who was on this roster that could help fine tune his skills and mold him..... Holmes? I'd easily send a 2nd if there was a restructure in place. Fitzgerald still has a good 3 years left in him at his current pace, along with another 2 years as the #2 WR. Fitz-Hill-Kerley-Nelson is a balance of veterans, youth, speed, and height.
Some things never change: http://gifsection.com/2013/10/tedd-...-ginn-jr-dropped-td-pass-against-tampa-bay-b/
I mean Braylon changed, so there might be hope for Ted Ginn, but really he's still a really fast player who if he can catch the ball can get a big play or two a game. But sometimes he just doesn't catch it haha
haven't any of you learned from the previous gm that trading away draft picks for short-cut quick-fix solutions doesn't work out long-term?
