Also, the coaches he hired were not effective, to say the least. That's a very important part of the equation.
I mean if we REALLY want to go down that conspiracy road there one could point out the absolutely overwhelming likelihood of 2024 being a reality failure heading into last season. A season that we all agreed going in was about as hot seat as it can possibly get for a GM. Just because that wasn't as clearly obvious to everybody insisting on guzzling down the koolaid, until of course way after-the-fact, doesn't mean Joe D himself didn't see it coming. Especially with a front row and cameras off seat to the behind the scenes aspects like having a complete joke of an OC Nathaniel Hackett at the head of your team's offensive projection hopes.
Douglas hired? If that doesn't cement Mike MacCagnan as THE worst jets GM of all time, then what does? As bad as Idzik and Douglas are/were, they both found work again in the NFL after released by the jets. MacCagnan never worked in the NFL again after the jets parted ways w him. No surprise. Terrible drafts under Mike McMoron (especially 2017 when he took 4 DBs and 3 receivers in ONE draft), and ridiculous free agent money thrown around (CJ Mosely, Trumaine Johnson, etc). Woody really knows how to pick the GMs.
It’s easy to sound like a genius when you’re talking to somebody that has no clue about the given subject.
