the rams were more then suh. they made lots of big profile signings and drafted good depth in the later rounds. goff was holding them back and they even made a SB with him and lost. 1st time they got a real QB they won one. but they are the only team who runs like that and the late round depth guys make a big difference. I know the browns are win now mode and baker was holding them back so they got watson. good teams use everything at their disposal (free agents, waivers, trades, draft) and do it well enough or luck into it well enough that they win one. but 4 franchises have been the most sustainable and thats the pats, steelers, ravens, and packers and all 4 drafted well. 3 drafted future HOF QBs and they've had consistency in the front office. JD comes form the ravens and was there when they won a SB, he went to the eagles and was there when they won a SB. he's going to build it his way. and it's proven to work
I’m not disagreeing with anything you’re saying. Trading for an oft injured, reportedly lazy WR would 100% go against the strategy you’re in favor of. What other high impact signings did the Rams make before the SB appearance in question?
depends when you want to start but if you want to count just 2021 from 2020 then the big 3 were stafford, miller, and OBJ edit: i think you mean the 2018 run Feb. 23: Agree to Marcus Peters trade March 2: Trade Robert Quinn to Dolphins March 6: Place franchise tag on Lamarcus Joyner March 7: Trade Alec Ogletree to Giants March 8: Agree to Aqib Talib trade March 8: Sign Sam Shields to one-year deal March 13: Sign Nickell Robey-Coleman to three-year, $15.75M extension March 16: Sign John Sullivan to two-year, $10.75M extension March 26: Sign Ndamukong Suh to one-year, $14M deal April 3: Acquire Brandin Cooks from Patriots July 17: Sign Brandin Cooks to five-year, $81M extension July 25: Sign Todd Gurley to four-year, $60M extension Aug. 20: Sign Rob Havenstein to four-year, $32.5M extension Aug. 31: Sign Aaron Donald to six-year, $135M extension
Actually hard to miss the point more than in this I said nothing about the money being the paid, you made it sound like they didnt spend the $$ by extending him. Two different things, as is it changes what they will be able to spend, what $$ is available down the road. Salary concerns are always an issue at that level.
Feels like we win these awards every year. I hope it’s true this year. https://bleacherreport.com/articles...most-improved-teams-of-the-2021-nfl-offseason https://www.thescore.com/nfl/news/2137696 https://www.nj.com/jets/2021/07/jets-are-1-of-nfls-5-most-improved-teams-report-says.html https://www.pff.com/news/pro-most-improved-nfl-teams-in-each-division-after-the-2019-nfl-draft https://bleacherreport.com/articles/2834270-the-most-improved-teams-of-the-2019-nfl-offseason
All the FA signings won't matter if a homegrown core can't be developed. Even the Rams hit on day 2 and 3 picks to make up for losing so many 1's.
I'm a huge Crowder fan but can kinda understand the move especially letting Crowder sign to a team who is contending NOW. I'd be rooting for the Bills if they make the playoffs (if we don't). That said, you can't just let players who are in a position to help the team go. The JETS continually lose out in FA so holding on to solid players should be at a premium but the JETS are gonna JET and keep signing less expensive talent and act like they addressed an issue. We are now WEAKER at WR and that isn't an improvement no matter what ESPN says. Corey Davis, Elijah Moore, Braxton Berrios, Jeff Smith, Denzel Mims... That said, We definitely addressed a TE issue so that may be a wash OR actual improvement in the passing game. IMO, That's been JD's best move so far. The rest is all a big push.
How is corner and safety a push? And the WR room will look a lot better after the draft. Crowder had no place on the team.
Hopefully being able to coach at the senior bowl will give us an edge with those later round picks and get us a few players who can become our diamonds in the rough. It seems like every other team gets them, when will we?
