Don't trade him. Douglas has all of the leverage here. Just let him sit and home and pout if he doesn't want to play, but he shouldn't get to write his ticket out of here.
Did anyone in their wildest dreams see Marcus Maye being the longest tenured 2017 draft pick? It just might happen.
Unless JD gets the trade value HE wants, he should let Jamal wait for his payday. If Adams acts like too much of an asshole and drags the team down, let him sit on the bench, and if that doesn't work, suspend him. He is not the difference maker he thinks he is.
How about MyFavoriteMartin for Curtis Martin? I am done with current players seeing as we can’t seem to keep them around long enough.
Haha, you want to know what actually started all of that? MangoldenShowers later 74 quoted himself - and I think it was almost by accident - and @jonnyd jumped all over it and said something like dude what kind of douche quotes himself and you went, yeah, who does that glurrrghh! burn him kind of thing. Now 74 was half high retarded at the time and laughed; but I noticed it was right around then when you started saying things like such and such thread is unnecessary, how many threads do we need to say the same damn thing; and then of course Scott Evil a/k/a @jets69 would do these random This Thread Sucks! carpet bombings. It was like Scut Farkas and Grover Dill, but I'm betting that neither one of you was the wiser about the other one tag-teaming. So eventually you became The Thread Master, and whenever the opportunity arose to quote myself, I did it. Oh, and I'll continue to so. When you started a thread about you being on the site for 12 years and all I said was this thread is unnecessary, you're lucky I had a cold at the time. I was too lazy to look up your policing and make a compilation. But, yes, I do feel mildly disrespected for sure. Wait, where's that thing? You know, the thing! There it is . . .
Not trading him hurts the Jets, it doesn’t help them. If he sits out they lose his services for hand a season instead of getting players who can help them the entire season. I’m more interested in seeing the Jets benefit from this situation than seeing Adams suffer. Unless not trading him results in him staying with the Jets, which has been very obviously unlikely for a while now, trading him is the only sensible solution that benefits the Jets.
Exactly! None of those give the Jets enough compensation. I'd tell the damn Cowjerks if they want Adams, we'll take either their #1 pick next year and CeeDee Lamb or La'el Collins straight up. In none of the other trades do they get good enough picks in return or good enough players in return, and I'm sure not giving another team a 5th round pick to take Adams. Fuck that!
I heard a report that they were willing to discuss taking a cut, but even if that report wasn't accurate. Taking a prorated salary is fair. They have a signed contract. It's not the players' fault that a full schedule of games can't be played. A prorated contract is fair to both sides. If the owners don't like it too bad. Their sport is already falling in popularity. If they want to screw around and not have a season this year, then baseball will become more and more irrelevant.
Ngakoue is a great player. He's had 37.5 sacks in 4 seasons. He plays a prime position. He's the same age as Adams. In Greg Williams' system Ngakoue would probably be a beast and have 15 sacks or more. I understand not wanting to pay him that much and not at this time. I also understand wanting draft picks in return. With Douglas making the picks, the odds of getting good players with those picks are considerably higher than if Mac was making them. Still, no GM is perfect. They miss on draft picks. Ngakoue is a proven player. He has only missed one game in his career, and that was last year.
Trading him sends the message to everyone else that, the moment they're unhappy, they can whine their way off of the team. It benefits the team in the long run to put their foot down and not budge. Granted, it doesn't necessarily help them in this one particular scenario, but the precedent it would set makes it worth holding their ground. If Douglas caves in a situation where he has all of the leverage, it doesn't help the franchise one bit. If you're going to trade him, though, ship him off to another crappy franchise. I would make it a point to not send him to one of the teams on his list.
Jamaal was so annoying after every game last year with his whining. Dude thinks he’s the first good player on a bad team. He’s a good player but he’s not great. He gets a lot of tackles big deal. What makes him a leader ? Cause he gets hype? Give me a break. I wanted him gone at the deadline last year and now we are going to get screwed with dealing him now for 2021 picks: never take a strong safety with a top 10 pick. Idiots
Riiighht, because what you really want to do is keep a team full of unhappy players. If you pay the player who publicly whines and holds out you set a bad precedence. If you trade that player you set a good precedence — we aren’t going to be held hostage by you.
Remember during the season he got all butt hurt cause teams called about a trade and Joe actually had the audacity to listen?
JD's got to get a good haul for Adams. Hopefully a 1 and a 2 or an impact player like Amari Cooper. Or Marquise Brown and a 2.

He can't sit out until his contract ends - including the option year the Jets control. If he refuses to play, he can be suspended and I assume not be paid and also fined. Yes, he might create a distraction but in the long run the Jets absolutely cannot agree to give in to his demands. He thinks he has some control but he doesn't. Besides all that, I trust that Douglas knows how to handle this better than we do.
