Just an observartion, but there are also a lot of so-called "knowledgeabe fans" posing as idiots on this board... but we're not asking the mods to set standards for them. This is called a message board, so anyone with an opinion can type it for the world to read, no matter how un-educated or rediculous the masses may deam it...
Is there a reason for this thread? He was never on the block..not once...somebody called Denver and asked if they could trade for him.
Cutler..I would take Him in a NY minute..You kidding me?...He may not be a winner now, But He will be. Not all QB's win right away - Ask Elway & Peyton
So that means a guy Larry Fitzgerald wasn't worth having before this season, am I right? What about Nhandi Asomugha? He isn't worth having either, is he? I understand wins and losses is part of the evaluation process, I just think it is too simplistic a way of looking at things. Basically Cutler's team doesn't win, so that means he isn't worth having? Really?
I'm only speaking about Cutler. I personally have watched him play a ton and he's got a big arm. A lot of guys have had big arms and done squat. Jeff George is the ultimate example, Ryan Leaf, etc. Obviously this alone is not enough to discount him. There is also the fact that he is hugely inconsistent and makes costly decisions when the game is on the line. His first and 3rd season in the league they were practically a lock for the playoffs, especially this year, with a 4 game lead with 4 to go. That's almost impossible to blow and some of that blame belongs on him. (Ok, maybe not for the Jets but any other team) Obviously it's not all him and you're right that's way too simple of a way to break things down. Don't get me wrong. I would take him on our team if it was a choice of him versus a lot of other starting QB's in the league. Yet it all depends on who else was hypothetically available and/or how much we would be willing to give up for him.
-Cutler has a big arm and actually knows how to use it -His first season he came in with 4 games left, and last season I'll give you, although having a league worst defense certainly didn't help his cause, not to mention the fact that he was the only reason they won 8 games to begin with. Some of the blame does belong to him, but very little of it. He isn't Jesus. -I'd give up whatever needed, within reason to get the guy, but a 24 yr old stud QB, with all the ability in then world isn't going to come with a reasonable price tag. I'd take him in a heartbeat over any of the QBs available in FA, and any of the QBs in the draft with the possible exception of Stafford. Just PLEASE no MArk Sanchez, that's all I ask.
Denver's collapse had more to do with being on their 5th string running back and patchwork front D. Cutler performed very will given his situation.
The Broncos defense...and Lions defense both set records in the area of terrible a Legendary bad defense i think it was one of the top 5 worst all-time in most points allowed... Cutler and the Broncos...#2 in offense they might have been listening to the deal they could get....but it was never realistic
Actually, what we understand is that a team that spent a first round pick on Jay Cutler and watched him play QB for them for the better part of 3 seasons wanted to trade for Matt Cassell, a guy who had a good year surrounded by the New England Patriots super team. That tells you either that the Denver FO is having problems right now or that Cassell is better than Cutler or some combination thereof, likely the third case.
He cant play in the heat had a hard time in Probowl cause of diabaties (sp) and they were going to send him to Tampa?
Cutler is better than Cassell...he also is much better at being an asshole too Broncos fans would immediately jump ship on the new regime the defense is the problem and will determine how well they do next year
some of you are funny...I started this thread because it may be possible Jay Cutler could be traded...Yes Denver wanted Cassell, thats why they called the Broncos...not that hard to figure out...but...I was sitting here watching Shefter say that 1. Mcdaniels is not crazy about Cutler... and 2. Cutler heard about this and is furious with the franchise...that led me to believe that maybe, just maybe some kind of trade could be worked out...either way...even if it is outrageous...what is the big deal?...chances are, if you patrol this board all day, then reading that wasn't a huge waste of time for you...calm down
You kidding? Besides the 3 I mentioned he would be better than all those guys if he were in there shoes. They have the worst D in the NFL. You give him the TEAMS those other guys have he would easily be in the playoffs. The reason that team was close to the playoffs was b/c of Cutler. Also just like someone has already brought up the guy had to press b/c he knew they had to score damn near 30 to win games. When it comes to the RB's who cares about their ypc b/c they basically ran a spread offense. If they ran a balanced offense that average would be about 3. I know it would never happen but if you put him on the Jets they would be instant Super Bowl contenders.
Thats what these guys do. They spend more time complaining about threads than anything else. Your post was worth it b/c if this would ever happen im sure the Jets would jump at the chance being they almost took him in the draft.
He'd pick right up where Favre led off. Amaze you with a great throw, then toss it to the other team on the next play. Worse than favre. This guy is a Drew Bledsoe clone. Big arm, no head for the game or work ethic. I would not be surprised to see McDaniels trade him and look for a "system" guy.
