The reason Denver missed the playoffs is their team stinks. 30th ranked D, no running back with over 350 yards or 80 carries, a terrible OL. Without Cutler the are the worst team in football last year. He carried that team.

SD was torched early in the year but turned it around and played well down the stretch and in the playoffs. They have a very talented team and stopped Manning cold in the playoffs. There is no comparrison between the talent on the Chargers and the talent on the Broncos with the exception of one position.

I wouldn't expect us to trade the farm for him but that's what it will take.

I have yet to see anything that Cutler is actually on the block, but hypothetically speaking, if he were on the block I would love to have him. I would give up two first round picks for the guy.

    First 3 seasons
    Elway:
    yards: 8152
    TD: 47
    INT: 52

    Cutler:
    yards: 9024
    TD: 54
    INT: 37

I don't think I'd give up two. But I would probably give up ours if it meant we weren't gonna draft Sanchez.

This was legit news on NFL network and ESPN today. The OP did not deserved to get blasted.

I about jumped out of my chair when I heard there was even a chance he might be available.

Anybody should want him and pretty much any team in the league would give whatever it took to get him. It's only the idiots on this board that find reasons not to want him..maybe it's jealousy..who knows. After three years his TD to INT is +17. After 3 years Elway's was -5.

If Cutler doesn't want to be in Denver anymore, then we should definitely put in a call because this organizational rupture means, at least, there's a chance he could be traded. Before the Broncos try to fix the situation, we should see what it'll take to get him.

We had a chance to get Cutler and passed on him in the draft. Why not go for him again now that there's another opportunity? He's proven he can play in inclement weather - dude throws lasers in Mile High - he's young, he's got moxie, and he's shown he can compete and be successful at this level -- something our QB's haven't shown.

    I would trade a R1, next year's R2 and R3, and/or try to throw in a player as a starting point.

You people were way too hard on the OP . . . having said that, I'm not so sure I would give up more than 1 1st round draftpick for Cutler (I personally think he's slightly overrated by the national sports media) and almost certain that the Jets would have to do just that.

I would really want the guy, except I am very concerned about his effect on the locker room. The guy is an arrogant prick, and most of the guys in the Broncos clubhouse don't even like him. He could be a complete cancer. If Clemens or Ratliff work out, it would be very effective in establishing our own identity.

If there is anyway to get Cutlers, Woody needs to make it happen.

We wanted him in the draft but couldn't move up enough to draft him with a 2nd 1st round pick. I say don't make a second mistake by being too cheap.

It shouldnt even be that tough for us to bring him in. his agent is bus cook, the same one who we dealt with to get favre last year. obviously having dealt with the guy on such a large scale should give tanny an edge. also the fact that other than the wr position we are pretty attractive to a guy like cutler. i say this years first and next years 2nd. done deal.

Broncos say Cutler isn't on trading block
New coach, QB to meet next week in effort to patch up relationship
    The Associated Press
    updated 7:58 p.m. ET, Tues., March. 3, 2009

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. - The Denver Broncos don?t want to talk to anyone about Jay Cutler except for the quarterback himself.

The Broncos insisted Tuesday their Pro Bowl quarterback isn?t on the trading block and said new coach Josh McDaniels and his star player are scheduled to meet next week to try to patch up their strained relationship.

Cutler was angered during the weekend when his name came up in talks involving a three-way trade that would have sent him to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and landed Matt Cassel in Denver. Instead, the Patriots traded Cassel to Kansas City.

McDaniels was the offensive coordinator last year in New England, where he tutored Cassel, a career backup who led the Patriots to an 11-5 season after Tom Brady was injured in the opener.

Cutler, who is preparing to learn the intricate Patriots-style offense after working in the West Coast system his first three years in the NFL, was miffed that McDaniels even entertained the notion of dealing him to another team. He also said he thought he was still going to get traded.

?The Denver Broncos are not trading Jay Cutler. Period,? team spokesman Patrick Smyth said emphatically Tuesday.

Smyth said neither Cutler nor McDaniels would be made available to discuss the situation until after they meet to resolve their rift following Cutler?s return from Nashville, Tenn., where he maintains an offseason home.

A message left with Cutler?s agent, Bus Cook, wasn?t returned Tuesday. Earlier, he told The Associated Press that he doesn?t think his client has ever asked the Broncos for a trade and he insisted Cutler was right to be upset because the Broncos even listening to offers was ?a vote of no-confidence in him.?

Cutler, who has three years left on the six-year deal he signed as a rookie, set numerous club records last season, including yards passing in a season (4,526), completions (384) and 300-yard games (eight).

However, Cutler and the Broncos squandered a three-game lead in the AFC West with three weeks to go, missing out on the playoffs for a third straight season and costing Mike Shanahan his job after 14 seasons in Denver.

Cutler is 17-20 with no playoff appearances since replacing Jake Plummer late in the 2006 season.

McDaniels, 32, was hired in January, and the Broncos promoted Brian Xanders, 37, to general manager last month. Both of them report directly to owner Pat Bowlen, who hasn?t publicly addressed the rift between his new coach and his temperamental quarterback.

The Broncos are also dealing with another major headache following Pro Bowl receiver Brandon Marshall?s fourth arrest in three years. Marshall was arrested Sunday after getting into a fight with his new fiance.

The disorderly conduct charge was quickly dropped in at Atlanta court when he and his fiance refused to testify against each other, but Marshall still faces discipline from the NFL for repeated violations of the league?s personal conduct code.

Cutler and Marshall, fellow members of the Broncos? dazzling 2006 draft class, are the faces of the franchise and the two biggest talents McDaniels inherited.
