I like the use of nary, though. That word should never have fallen out of fashion. Why things like that happen is truly a mystery.
Then the question is how do you distinguish between those that were never really 1st round prospects. To those that were but then slipped for whatever reason? That's why IMO it's not as black and white as you're claiming it is.
Ok, again. We as fans can talk about first round "prospects" all we want, but none of us know anything really. All of those "projections" you hear are made up fluff that's regurgitated and repeated and then printed as gospel and then accepted by fandom. They may be right, they may be wrong, but they're just guesses. Unless someone has a draft board that shows where guys are ACTUALLY ranked, the rest of that is merely fluff. The only true and valid evidence of where someone is rated in on a real draft board. The only other valid criteria we have is where that player was drafted. Full stop. 101 can crow about how all the "experts" had Geno rated as a first rounder, and because HE had him rated as a first rounder, then it must be so. There are "experts" that will say it was a weak QB class and that none of them were first round talents. He went in the second round. Were some of the experts right and some of them wrong? No. They just guessed wrong. I thought Carr was a sure-fire first rounder this year--possibly to be the best QB in that entire draft. In most draft mags and on draft sites and draft blogs, he was rated a first rounder. I didn't use those reports to confirm what I thought, I just thought it interesting that other football fans (which is all that they are) had him rated similarly. But I wasn't sure because I didn't have access to a real draft board or an inside source to any real NFL FO types. He got drafted in the second round. Was I wrong? Were the "experts" wrong? No. We just guessed wrong. But the overriding bit of "evidence" if that's what you are looking for is to see how many teams passed him by, QB needy teams, passed him by TWICE--a true first round franchise QB--the most important position in all of sports--that tells you what they thought of him. _
You're missing my point. Your argument is that any player that is NOT drafted in round 1 was never at any point graded as first round talent. Because if they were graded that way by real GM's and team scouts then they would've been taken in round 1. My point is that it isn't that black and white. And it is a fact that players slip. You're making it seem as if the NFL rate college players in a bubble that's totally different from the rest of the world. Those projections comes from different sources whether it's from folks in the league or folks associated with the league. Everybody knows what the criteria's are for a possible first round player.
LOLGFY. His main point has been addressed repeatedly and thoroughly. Hey dick, go stalk someone else, I'm tired. _
I thought my parallel use of "Cindy" made it obvious. Too subtle? As an aside, I usually assume most of what you say is good natured ball-busting, which is why I feel comfortable busting right back. _
