I never accused you of lying. I said I never seen you say the things you claimed you said about Geno. If I said "stop lying you never said any of those things" then I'd be accusing you of lying.
Oh wait, you think you won an argument? On the Internet? Not sure what is more pathetic- that you care about winning an Internet argument or because your argument is so wrong and clouded by emotion and blind fandom. Geno was NEVER a first round pick. Only folks who want to believe that are Jet fans, WVU fans and his close relatives. _
I don't care about winning an internet argument, and I don't care about changing your mind. I'm telling you what I saw and I am 100% disagreeing with your "assessment" on Geno Smith coming out of the draft. Who says anything about winning an argument? I told you to throw in the towel because all you keep saying is, "you're wrong" "stop reading scouting reports". My argument is as opinionated as yours. We don't have access to the teams' big board. We can only go by our opinions and what the "experts" opinions. The only thing you brought to this conversation was the fact that Doug Marrone beat Geno 3 times, therefore Geno will be a bad pro QB. I don't think Geno will be a franchise QB at this level (history is against him), but I'm not a fool. The kid has plenty of potential.
Yeah we kind of do. In a league where THE single most important position is QB, in a year when a lot of teams need a franchise QB, NOBODY took him. In fact, they took a guy "you" had rated worse. That should tell you something. I can continue to explain it to you. I just can't understand it for you too. Exactly my point. Those folks you call "experts" aren't real experts. They have no insight into what real "experts" are thinking. Never said that. Now you're just making shit up because you know your whole premise is based upon either sheer homer fandom or...well, we already went over that. _
i know of 3 experts that seem to think geno can be a starter in this league, otherwise they probably wouldn't be giving him 75% of the snaps this training camp
Guess what? These scenarios happen. These players still turn out good. And again, his stock was a first round QB UNTIL the Senior Bowl came around. Then you saw that stupid report by Nolan Nawrocki. You never saw anything like this prior to the draft combine, Senior Bowl, etc. 2012 draft also had some good defensive players, offensive lineman and decent offensive weapon prospects. So you have to remember the draft as a whole and the players that declared. That wasn't the draft to go get your QB. Coming out of the draft, Geno had the physical attributes you wanted in a QB. Excellent arm strength, mobile, accuracy was ok, production was there. Durable through his college career. He was a first round prospect. You have guys like Christian Ponder and Blaine Gabbert being picked early. Geno no doubt was a better pro prospect then both of them. But it's how you advertise YOUR brand. Geno failed in that aspect. Look at how these QB prospects are falling in the draft. They weren't falling during the college season. Which is why again, I use my judgement which is rational and fair along with what I read in reports. We have no idea what teams thought of Geno before the Senior Bowl. I find it funny that the hate started coming around when he decided not to go to the S. Bowl. There is an absolute correlation between those 2 [Senior Bowl, Stock Drop] The only fact you brought to this conversation was Doug Marrone beating Geno 3 times. You think he's an awful QB, so I am going to assume that's why. Because a slap-dick coach beat WVU 3 times in college.
2014 is a strange year for the Jets. They're not completely over the 2011-2012 yips yet however they've got this tantalizing upside potential due to the roster being so young, the 2013-2014 draft picks so interesting and Rex's ability to put together a decent defense on the fly. It all really comes down to Marty M and the QB's. If those guys can find a way to be good this year the sky is the limit. If the offense doesn't jell or the injury luck is really bad they could be in the second year of the rebuilding phase with 2015 being the year.
this is why i am optimistic about geno. marty knows first hand what he can manage to get out of vick. rex knows first hand what he can do with just average at best qb play. see 2010 11-5 record. they have to really believe geno can do something to just hand him the short track to the qb1 spot.
Supported by nothing other than your fandom backed up by fake internet draft gurus. We get it, you believed all those reports and blogs. Oh so it was Nawrocki that sunk Geno. Lol, real NFL GMs don't read the same rags and internet articles and blogs that you do and they give them even less credence. Exactly. An awful year for QBs--only one first rounder amopng them, a guy you had rated worse than Geno. Again, you can continue to repeat it, but it's not going to make it true. LOT'S of guys have physical attributes, but if they don't have the mental aspect, they probably aren't going to be taken in the first round. We get it, of course you read the reports. Why else would you have thought him a first rounder? And we do have an idea what teams thought of Geno--regardless of your contiued excuse/crutch of missing the Senior Bowl. NOBODY took him because NOBODY thought of him as a first rounder. I love how you keep talking about the "hate" coming out. Or that missing the Senior Bowl is why he "dropped" lol. How about the teams already knew enough about him and there was absolutely no hate. Just apathy. You've brought nothing but specualtion based upon some fake internet draft gurus and blogs and magazines that have no relation to reality. My point about Marrone--again--isn't that he beat him--it's that he knew him as well as ANYONE and was in position to DRAFT him. And opted to draft a guy "you" had rated worse. You can keep repeating yourself, you don't ahve a shred of anything to back you up. Facts are, he was drafted in the second round and if he was a first round talent, a guy who faced him 3 times in college would have taken him had he been a first round talent. Or better than Manuel. I see you're now resorting to calling marrone "slap-dick" but I'm pretty sure he knows a little bit more than a "slap-dick" on an internet fan forum. _
GMs don't really go by draft round when deciding who they'll pick. Most GMs take their top 100 or so players and grade them out, then select the highest graded player still on the board. At least that's how Idzik explained it. Idzik had grades for Milliner, Sheldon, Geno (and no doubt a bunch of other players in between that were taken by other teams). When it came time for Idzik to take his 3rd player, he took the player with the highest grade still on the board. Idzik was very clear that he stays true to his board, and doesn't change his mind at the last second. If Geno Smith had the highest grade of the remaining players, then Geno Smith becomes a Jet. And Idzik doesn't care what round it happens in. If Sheldon was off the board for our 2nd pick, then Geno very well may have been a 1st rounder.
For a guy who never admits his mistakes, no matter how obvious, you got a pretty loud bark. Missed Holidays Inn again, ended up at Ramada?
Really. So you're positing that possibly he had Sheldon and Geno ranked about even and had Sheldon been gone Geno would have been the 13th pick of the draft. In other words, a franchise QB. Yet he left him on the board until 39? Never once tried to move up a spot or 2 or 10 or 20 to get him? I'm not sure that jives with "very well may have been". _
I've never made one, but that comes from staying at a Holiday Inn Express. 1985er called me on something that he had no idea to be true or not. I prefer not to be called a liar. _
That's what I'm saying....if Sheldon were gone and Geno was the next highest graded player, then Geno goes in that spot. Of course there may have been 5 other players with higher grades than Geno, maybe even a different QB, but if those players are gone then Geno's the next man up, regardless of round. Try and go back and watch the interviews with Rex and Idzik around draft time....they both explained it just that way. The said they have ZERO concern of which round is which and just take their guys that are still there.
it actually helps GENO coming in late in the 2nd round. This lets him avoid the whole Kyle Wilson / Vernon Gholston fiasco created by fans who only see what round a player came in and DEMAND results day one. Expectations on 1st round players can be brutal, especially for young, raw QB. Coming in on a later rounds makes fan thrilled if he puts his helmet on straight.
