Not when you lost the best CB in the game in the offseason and already had good depth at DT. Our problem is O not D and I don't think Geno is going to help with that this year.
The way the Jet's O played last year there is nowhere to go but up. I keep seeing people saying that we're going to have a worse time than last year and it just does not compute. The Jets scored 10 points or less 7 times last season. They scored under the average of 21 points 11 times last year. To put it in perspective, in the truly horrible 1995 season the Jets scored 10 points or less 7 times. They were under 21 points 12 times. The offense last year contributed a bit more than the 1995 offense but it was just a bit more.
I agree we have no where to go but up, but as you pointed out, we have a long way to climb. I think MM alone will help a lot, but I would have liked it if we drafted some more offensive playmakers instead of a CB and DT. We still have questions at TE, RB and 1 or both guard spots depending on how comfortable you are with Colon health wise. Holmes coming back will make a big difference, but he is coming off foot surgery, so there is a slight concern there as well. My biggest concern is at the QB position. If all goes well, I think the offense will be fine but I can see why drafting a CB and NT didn't cause ESPN to boost us in the power rankings.
Who would you draft with the first pick, then? Will Manziel be eligible? Trade/scrap all the current QB's and hang hopes on Johnny Football? Or is there someone else you have your eye on that you think can rescue this team?
