youre a banana dude. I know you truly are looking for an answer so I will give it to you. Catholics are Christians dude. in fact, Catholics make up about half of all Christians in the world. And Catholics believe in salvation also. You know what CHRISTian refers to? CHRIST. Belief in CHRIST mkaes you CHRISTian.
Catholics are the original Christians. Peter, one of Jesus' apostles, went to Rome after his death to start the Catholic church and became the first Pope. What you call "Christians" are probably Protestants...which was the branch off that occurred when the king of England wanted to divorce his wife, and the pope wouldn't let him. There are a few other minor differences concerning some old testament Moses stuff...and some of the what happened when JC died. Protestants and Catholics are both Christian religions, just like Sunni and Shia are both Islamic religions.
No, no, no. God doesn't love the Jets or Jets fans, the one posters avatar said so. We all know the Devil is the man we need to bow to for Superbowls....or Odin:breakdance:
Yeah, I'm gonna have to go with Odin the battle god on this one too. All praise Odin, revered of Valhalla!
Exactly. I am catholic, not a fundamentalist, but still Catholic. I find the sheer ignorance and the ability of people to talk shit about things they no nothing about to be humorous. When catholics speak about "direct descendants of Peter" it is more a figure of speech than anything else. They are talking about the men who have been Pope. There is only a few who have held the position, so you can start from the current Pope and move backwards on the list and you come to Peter. It is an old (biblical if you will) way to describe the relationship between these men. It is a way to show reverance to men who were holy and spiritual enough to be chosen to hold the same office as Peter. It is not meant to be taken literally. There is plenty to mock the Catholic Church over but this is just ignorant and stupid. As for Clemens, good for him. A little spirituality and blessing never hurt anyone. Life is hard enough, so a blessing for his 4 week daughter can't hurt.
Ugh.... namecalling, personal attacks discussions about religion have no place in this forum because this is what they usually end up with.... I am closing this thread.
