Because it was tragically wrong. Good GMs abandon their mistakes. Bad GMs cling to them until the plane hits the mountain.
At no point during Lamar’s tenure have the ravens had an elite defense they were top five in dvoa his mvp year largely due to the offense putting games out of reach by the end of the fourth quarter. they got worse every year since until halfway through this year when they traded for roquan smith
Though we never know, lets face what is probably the reality. If Rodgers wants to play, it will be anywhere but here. Maybe the Raiders or Dolphins, or a last minute deal in GB? We have a reputation as the place where QB careers go to die. No starting QB really wants to sign here.
I would still rather draft another QB. Sure, the team is ready the compete this year, but without a QB you can’t compete anyways in this era. If we get Rodgers that is still more than possible too.
I think drafting a qb still has to be in the plans no matter who we choose. Whatever guy we get is going to be a short term solution. Unless they actuallly believe Zach will benefit from sitting for 2 years, which as gross as it sounds could be a plausible scenario.
Obviously, I understand your point on Zach. My thoughts on AR is that he's too expensive, & will hinder the building of the rest of the team. If Jimmy G was more durable, he'd be someone who could fill the role you mention, while seeing if the new O coaches could help turn on Zach's light. So, for me, with all who seemed available, as much I'd like to see if good coaching can help Zach develop, I thought Carr was the best move for the whole team, to develop a sustainable winner, & give time to develop Carr's eventual replacement... whether Zach, or someone else. And just as an aside, unlike many, I want MW off the team. People think he's this great guy. I thought he divided the team, & got off on that division. He could have put a quick end to all that tee-shirt crap, which Saleh ignored, but instead reveled in it. To me, that whole charade contributed to the end-season collapse. Let MLF have him in LA. .
I think this puts to bed all the speculation that he used us as leverage. We've known all along that Carr wanted to get this done before FA, and it seems like today was his deadline. JD and Co. obviously prefer Rodgers and Carr wasn't willing to wait any longer. Makes sense to me. Also seems like they're keeping tabs on the Lamar situation. This feels like the first legit linking of the Jets to Lamar.
If the Carr ship has sailed and Caveman Rogers has no clue ….we are back to SOJs So out the 2 injury prone QBs JG or LJackson The best move is locking up Jimmie G imo Keep him healthy and grab a good back up and we maybe win If Nothing gets done and we are losing RS and JD are gone Maybe Tanbenbaum wants to run things here ..it’s close to dark and desperate in Jetland lol I
Yes ..I want that to happen too But Rogers has signed nothing Lamar is such a crapshoot..I say give Garropolo a contract . And he knows this Offense
