Boland is doing something different from the other beat writers Erik Boland is engaged a pretty lively conversation with a bunch of people who participate in his blog on a regular basis. At the same time Cimini and Can a lardo et al hardly ever acknowledge that there are comments or questions being made in response to their on-high pronouncements of journalism. Boland's back and forth can be found several times a day in the comments section as well -- a stark difference from the lack of even lip service from the other guys. People are teasing and razzing him (he's from Cleveland) all the time, to which he responds. So, it's a little different from a reporter delivering you the daily gospel and expecting you to swallow his 'authority' lock stock and barrel. I think Boland is doing an interesting take off on beat reporting. But it does sound very different from the Lupicas and the Ciminis of the NY world.
