Unless we are really sold on an OLB from where we are picking, i'd rather us trade down and get an OLB and beef up one of the lines.

I said under those circumstances the FO should trade down...hence the portion of your post I hightlighted in big bold black letters.

Ton of potential is fine and I said they will end up being good players for us. But they still got "cute" because instead of addressing the immediate problems with this team, they chose to go for the flashy picks.

I could think of several Olinemen that were available at our original draft positions that could of helped us this year, at the very least give us more talent to develop. Blalock and Ramirez are the first 2 names that come to mind.

Did you read my posts? The Jets have IMMEDIATE needs along both lines. They have to draft for need this year, BPA is a luxury this team cannot afford again, unless you want to go through some more QBs and have a shitty run defense again. If that means trading down to get more picks, and get solid linemen, then so be it. If this team didn't have the immediate issues it does I would have a problem drafing to high 1st round DBs. But it does.

He might be, but that is irrelevant to my argument and ignoring the issues on this team. But you're right it all depends on FA, but second tier/over-the-hill players like Hamilton and Clement aren't going to cut it anymore. In any case it is way too early to be talking about the upcoming draft.

Yeah, picking safeties in the top ten is always kind of a waste. And looking at our team, it would definitely be a waste with Rhodes and Revis plus miller in the works. The Jets need a DT and a OLB. I'm not sure which they should pick first, but if the jets were to add 2 impact top 40 picks at those positions the D would be set.

Oline is easy to fix and by seasons end a couple of these guys will be much better, so I really don't know why people sweat that Line as much. But if we add two players that make Drob a DE and BThomas the off rusher, that makers the team better in 4 spots IMHO.
