Golden Tate aint nothing special either... i'd rather see Hakeem Nicks or Jeremy Maclin in green & white along with 2 solid picks at WR in the draft...
Sorry to say it and I know the blowback will be that he's another Holmes, but Nicks is the best FA receiver available
Would love for this team to sign Decker. The guy is a beast that gets overshadowed by Thomas (who is also a beast). However, I will say this right now. If we are really going to get Decker, draft Williams/Lee or Ebron, and then get another 2nd tier wr, Idzik better go get Matt Schaub to compete with Geno and get the starting job.
He absolutely is. It's not really debatable. He's just injury prone. I don't think he's right for the Jets due to that. We desperately need talent at WR. We can't take the risk that a guy like Nicks would come here and play 5 games in his first season.
i think we need to realize that nobody is letting there #1 go free if their still viable. we'll have to settle for a good # 2 looking for a decent payday and rookie draft risk to find ours. nicks, decker, maclin, etc are gonna have to be signed to a pretty penny.
decker + ebron + 2nd round wr + kerley + nelson + cumberland i would like mike evans, and would have no problem drafting him. but there are a ton of wide receivers in the draft, and we need a serious upgrade at tight end. nelson is gonna be good for us, and hopefully kerley will continue to be solid. maybe keep holmes if he is coming back for cheap value? make him the 3rd/4th receiver so he's fresh and doesn't get injured. at this point no one will pay for a guy like this, i feel like he's good but gets out of groove with injury.
I cannot confirm that information, but Cimini is now reporting the Jets are hosting Julius Thomas, and Earl Thomas too. Man I hope he knows something we don't!! /sarcasm
Ive been for Decker for a long time...His wife probably wants a big market like NY. He is a great talent, I just dont know if anyone wants to leave Peyton
We're not gonna build a dominant WR corps in 1 offseason. That isn't gonna happen. More likely..we add acouple solid veterans to at least get the roster up to par & we draft a high ceiling type.
Despite all the moaning by Smith defenders, the Jets do have SOME talent at wideout already on the roster. Kerley certainly qualifies, and while I was concerned he missed games, it was not the kind of injury, I think, that is likely to cause him continuing problems. So that's one wideout. At the time I didn't think much of the Nelson pickup, that turned out pretty well, and he likely will be in the mix, too. On the other hand I've just about given up on Hill. And while I am not a Holmes hater, he will be a cap casualty. Salas I think has some talent. Give him a chance to show he should stick. So the Jets could probably field a decent group of wideouts with a top FA or a high pick ready to go. But you are right - one off season will not translate into a dynamic and top level group.
no way, decker is better than all of those guys. he's not a peyton creation, he's solid body with great hands, runs good routes. james jones would be a noname without rodgers, sanders and maclin are tier below. who cares if we overpay, we have the cap room and we need a good receiver that bad. we'd probably end up having to overpay for those other guys as well.
Nicks hasn't played a full season his entire career and scored 0 touchdowns this year. Even Stephen Hill scored.. Nicks is probably still in the top 8 available but by no means the best.
