its more a matter of what price you would take him at. i don't think he s the player you get into a bidding war for. and looking at the f.a. class of wr there will probably be a decent market for him.
I would like to have him but only at a decent price and he is likely looking to cash in. I would rather cut Holmes, sign a WR like Maclin to a reasonable contract and draft a top end WR and TE (I.e. Lee and Seferian-Jenkins or Ebron/Amaro and whichever WR falls to the second round). Gives you two potentially top end receiving prospects, vets in Kerley and Maclin and maybe Hill has a comeback season, if not he hopefully won't have to play much anyway.
I read this on my TGG app yesterday, and it really pissed me off. It was such a delusion from the truth. We aren't talking to him at all. There is no visit. He's just going to be at the facility. Big Fucking Deal.
Safe to say if he signed with us, he would be our WR1. If I were him, I would remain in Denver at all costs  .
I don't want to overpay for this guy, but I'd really like his skill set for our team. He's big, and strong as well. He runs excellent routes and has very good hands. He is plenty fast, perhaps not game-breaking speed but fast enough. He is a very good blocker as well. With our RB corp I want our receiving corp to consist of Decker and David Nelson, big guys who are reliable and can be our outside blockers. Then we mix in Kerley and Hill, and then I want Jace Amaro out of Texas Tech, another big strong reliable guy who can block very well. With Geno as our likely starter we will be relying on Ivory, Powell, and perhaps Goodson a lot, not to mention I expect to see Geno using his legs a fair amount next season. It's how we won games this year, so lets play to our strengths.
I honestly think Denver can't afford him, I've been looking at their cap and they have quite a few needs. They will most likely cut Champ Bailey, unless he retires, and that will free up 10 mil but still they are tight and they already have D Thomas, J Thomas, and Wes Welker. I think Decker is likely to walk. Staying in Denver would only be possible by Decker signing for far far less than he is worth on the market.
Decker's decent, but he's not a #1 option. He's a #3 on the Broncos right now behind Welker and Thomas. The Jets need a #1 guy, whether it be through draft of FA. I wouldn't mind Decker for cheap, but he might get overpaid due to Manning, especially if they win the super bowl. I'd be okay with it if we don't overpay and bring him in as a #2 or #3.
Really, WTF. Can we change the thread title to indicate Cimini's tardness? Are we hosting Peyton Manning while he's here too?
And you think any of those 3 can handle double coverage or #1 CBs??? Please. Decker would be a great addition and he has the production to back his pay check.
Please no. He'll ask for a lot of money and is a product of Peyton Manning. Golden Tate should be taking a tour.
This thread title is very misleading. He's going to be at the Jets facility due to Super Bowl requirements and that's all. In regards to signing Decker, as has been said on here you don't break the bank for this guy so he probably won't be coming here. He's got great measurables but the Manning effect is the big question mark.
This is a dumb article.. thats like saying golden tate is being hosted too... plus i dont want decker here.. i dont think geno is his type of QB .. and we dont have the THomas's and welker running around so he wont look nearly as good here.. not buying it
And you think Golden Tate would be a better player for us? Cmon. Tate isnt anything special. Everyone has this infatuation with him. He's a solid #2 guy, thats about it. People are making it seem like he's going to walk in change our entire passing game. Decker at least could be a solid #1.
Decker is good but I wouldn't give him a boat load of money. Sometimes guys on SB teams get a lot of hype and to me he isn't an elite Wr. He's good but not great. There are very few guys I'd give big time money for at that position because there are a lot of good ones who can fit into an offense if the coaching is good and the Qb is at least average. Mike Wallace got the big money and had a very good year and was a premium Wr but I still think he was overpaid. Not nearly as much as Tone was for us but still too much bread for his production. As for drafting someone Stephen Hill is close to being considered a bust. They'll give him another year or at least all of training camp. But after what we've seen you can't count on him. But to me you can still do it cheaper plus draft someone who hopefully is a lot better than Hill. Like maybe the USC Wr. I'm sure Rex loves the Clemson guy (Rex's son is a Wr on Clemson) but he reportedly will be a top 5 guy.
yeah what the hell is up with the golden tate love? he just isn't that good, he's the exact definition of mediocre
Agreed, title of this thread was super misleading. I changed the title for it to be more appropriate.
to be fair ww, thats the title cimini used for the article. as far as tate goes, personally i think the attraction is the potential coupled with the probable lower price tag compared to decker. laying out the money it is expected to land decker could be used for tate plus maybe another position and tate would also give us another option in the return game. so decker is better but tate gives more flexibility, since neither is a real franchise type talent i think the economics weighs towards tate j.m.o.
