Nah, he'll be back on a 1 year deal. And boldin had that deal on the table all weekend. He declined on Friday and changed his mind on monday
I wouldn't trade a draft pick period. There will be plenty of cuts and if the Fo is going to add a WR, I'd rather see them pick up a FA then give up picks. The Pat's are stacked at WR and rumors are that Amendola is on the bubble. Same rumors are circulating in the Green Bay press about Cobb. Again if you followed the thread, my reply was to posters who want to give up 3rd or 4th round picks for injured players, one in the last year of his contract. I would simply pick up a FA vs trading for a one year rental who has a current knee injury.
I understand and respect that. Too many posters are too willing to give up draft picks willy nilly. That said, as far as I know, the FA WRs you listed would not help the team or Hack/Petty. If the team is going to give Hack a safety blanket and someone to help his development and to better enable them to assess him, then unless a Cobb or Amendola are cut, the Jets will have to trade a draft pick to get that kind of WR. I'd rather not trade a draft pick, but then again, I'd rather do everything I could to help Hack and Petty succeed. Hopefully, the WRs will start stepping it up in camp and preseason games, and the Jets won't feel a pressing need to add anyone. The Pats are stacked at WR? Hardly. They have Brandin Cooks, Julian Edelman, Danny Amendola and a bunch of no-names. I think both Edelman and Amendola have missed games of the last year or two with injuries, so would be surprised if Amendola is cut, unless one or more of those no-names are a lot better than I know. The Packers have Jordy Nelson, Cobb, Davante Adams (who has been a pretty big disappointment), Geronimo Allison (who showed some promise last season), Jeff Janis (who has been totally underwhelming, and I'm surprised he's still there), a good prospect in Max McCaffrey, and a bunch of no-name WRs I've never heard of, most of whom are rookies. I see no reason why the Packers would even be considering moving on from Cobb.
I noticed that the patience for the rebuild has already worn thin for some posters prior to even the first snap. As for if the WRs mentioned would help Hack, I believe they would be a bigger help than an injured player who cost a pick. Again that was the focus of my reply. It was going to be difficult to get an honest evaluation of Hack and or Petty even before Quincy went down . With the draft being supposedly QB rich it really is imperative that we know what we have in them . If we really are uncertain about them after this season, we have to spend our top pick on a QB. As far as the the second part of your post. Yes the Pat's are stacked at WR. Your forgetting Hogan and Malcom Mitchell. Amendola is currently 5 th on the depth chart. The Pat's also have the rookie Carr, White , Lucien and Andrew Hawkins . As for the Packers , Nelson and Adams are locks to make the roster. Cobb's stats have declined each of the past 2 years and last years we're not very impressive. As far as Adams, let's hope some of our WRs can be equally disappointing: Adams 2016 Rec. 75 Yds. 997 Avg. 13.3 TDs 12 The Packers are very high on Geronimo Allison who played well when called up mid season. Week 17 was big and he had some nice plays in the playoffs as you mentioned. They also drafted Dupre and Yancy . The thing about the " no name Recievers" on both Green Bay and NE is they have Rodgers and Brady throwing to them.
Are you really surprised that some posters' patience has already worn thin, when if a rookie doesn't immediately play at a HOF level they loudly proclaim that he's a bust? I don't know Hogan or Malcom Mitchell at all, or any of their young WRs. I hate hearing that they're stacked! I don't keep up with other teams. I know some about the Packers because they're my 2nd favorite team, and about the Panthers, because they're local, I hear all their news whether I want to or not, and they're my 3rd favorite team. I remember reading that at a couple of points over the last year or two the Packers were not happy with him and have given serious consideration to trading or releasing Adams. Maybe he changed their thoughts with his play last season. I think he's still dropped some big passes in clutch situations that caused them to lose games. With regards to Cobb, he missed 3 games last season with injuries. I wonder what's happened with him. He was so dynamic and such an important player for them.
Well matthews got traded.... to the bills. The bills also traded watkins to the rams. and the jets sit tight with no WRs lol Sammy Watkins is headed to Los Angeles. The Buffalo Bills traded their star wide receiver and a 2018 sixth-round pick to the Rams in exchange for cornerback E.J. Gaines and the Rams' 2018 second-round pick, the teams announced. In a separate trade, Buffalo acquired wide receiver Jordan Matthews from the Eagles in exchange for cornerback Ronald Darby and a 2018 third-round pick, the teams announced.
Gaines was pretty bad last year but getting a second round pick for Watkins was pretty good for the Bills. They were going to let him walk in free agency at the end of the season. So they now have 2 first round picks and 2 second round picks and 2 third round picks I believe your mistaken in regards to the Matthews trade though. The Bills received the third round pick and Matthews from the Eagles for Darby. The Eagles did not receive a draft pick.
thanks i read that wrong. in that case great job on the bills and shows how cheap we could have landed matthews. Now they have 6 picks like you said in the 1st 3 rounds. got a solid good young WR. got rid of a great young one who can't stay healthy and added a decent depth CB dude.
I wonder if we could have gotten the same deal for Richardson. The Bills gave up one of the best young corners in Darby. Watkins as you said hasn't said cant stay healthy. The bills got two decent youngsters and the draft picks. Those 6 early picks can turn things around in a hurry for them.
Glad the Jets didn't make any of those trades. Sheldon and a 6th round pick for someone is the most I would do.
I would have jumped on anyone and a 3rd round pick for Sheldon. But I know trading Sheldon to Buffalo would haunt us for years
Edit. Have not played the first preseason game and I think I'm already drinking too much lol. Sheldon to the eagles for Matthews and their third round pick was what I meant .
Not going to look for it, but where's the smartass that said we should sign Kenbrell Thompkins again? Cuz we just did lol
Waived/injured Middleton to make room. Shame,he was going to make the roster and probably be the 3rd safety
Do you think he would have been #3 over Rontez Miles? I know that Miles is particularly popular with his teammates and fans, but I've never thought he was that great. He hustles and gives great effort and is a likeable sort, but just isn't fast or athletic enough imo. I like Middleton and was rooting for him. Hopefully, he'll pass waivers, go on IR, will suffer no lingering effects, and will be back with the Jets next season.
Reports were he was having a good camp. No other team can stash him on i.r. so I'd imagine he will clear and end up with us. The patriots did claim a te from the giants once and kept him on active even though he wouldn't be able to play all season. Giants were pissed, suppose to be a gentlemans agreement that teams don't do that. So of course the patriots did.
Why am I not surprised that the Pats did that? Gentleman and Patriots don't belong in the same paragraph together, much less sentence.
