Sanders signed an offer sheet with NEP last year but the Steelers matched it. I'm also not a big fan of Tate. He's not even close to a no. 1 Wr I wouldn't sign him.
And Sanders is a #1? None of these WRs available via FA are #1 WRs - so instead you pair them together with other good wrs. I would rather have 4 reliable receivers then 1 elite wr
How much is the asking price for Sanders going to be? That will determine whether the Jets go after him or not. He is a legit NFL WR though. I've followed him closely for a few years now and he's underrated.
Agreed There really isn't a legit number 1 receiver in this FA class besides a healthy Hakeem Nicks whose injury history is to big of a risk to commit to. You just have to go after quality at a reasonable price.
i know we need a #1 WR but i wouldnt mind bringing a couple of these #2 guys that have POTENTIAL to be a number 1. If we could bring in Tate Or Maclin + another guy for depth and KR,PR ability that would be great, Lee or Evans in the draft (if Ebron isnt available). This way we'll have different players that can do different things for different situations (wildcat, options, screens) and guys will have to compete for the #1 and #2 I think Marty can make some magic with a variety of wideouts i liked what he was able to do with little to no talent last year.
Thats a fair point. But you could still look to the draft to add a tall receiver. Hill and Nelson are still on the team as well. The chances of the Jets signing both are slim anyway.

True. If that's their best option for upgrading the WR corps, so be it. They could certainly do a lot worse. I'll root my arse off for them if that's the way the Jets go, but if I have my preferences, I'd rather add Sanders and not Tate, and have the Jets draft 2 tall WRs.
I'd prefer him over Tate or Decker, to be honest. He's very dynamic and quick. He can make yards after the catch. The only problem is I don't think Pittsburgh is going to let him go after what happened with Mike Wallace. If they lose another good receiver they'll take another step backwards.
Tate reminds me of Jericho cotch. I'd love him as a number 2 but we'd still need that explosive wr that can change a game on any given play.
I like Sanders to just add skill to the WR position. Whenever I watched, I like what I saw. I don't think he should demand a huge contract either
He's ok but i wouldn't overpay... I dont think he's an upgrade over Kerley. I'd rather try a steal Talib away with the money TBH
I would rather take a chance on Britt who could be cheap and turn into a #1. If they wanted to stay proven then I would love tate. he is solid and underrated
Just an FYI, Sanders was ranked 87th in drops this season, with only 3. 2012, he was ranked higher but had the same amount. In 2011, he had just 2. I don't call that questionable hands. Stephen Hill in 2012: 10% drop rate. Sanders in 2013: 2.7% Sanders is an instant upgrade over Hill, sign him, draft a #1, and that's most of the battle right there. Sanders-Kerley-#1pick-value FA. Hill might still develop in a year or so, but this is the better solution, when thinking of Maclin, Decker and Tate. Sanders shouldn't break the bank and could have a breakout year.
I'd like Sanders or Maclin + McCluster for ST and mismatches.. Then add Pettigrew at TE. None of those signings will break the bank. With those additions we still target WR and TE in the draft, but allow for some flexibility in how we approach it.
Regardless of drop rate %'s & who is a #1 or not...can we just have a passing game that actually resembles something from this era? That doesn't make you hold your breath every time they drop back? I'm perfectly content w/ a completely average passing game. Anything is better than the last 2 years.But can we just get there?
