There were at least a two games later in the season where I know someone said during the broadcast that they had been looking to Keller all day but he wasn't open. Keller has the tools athletically to be top 10 but he isn't consistent yet.
Not you. Given that Holmes was/is meant to be the #1 WR and the deficit between them, I think the numbers are very favourable to Braylon.
I love Braylon and he wants to be a Jet. That, and Sanchez needs continuity and bringing in new recievers for him to have to get comfortable with would be an unecessary obsticle to him becoming a more consistant passer. Rex always mentioned what a hard worker he is and what a great blocker he is so i'd really be suprised if we didn't sign him.
Guy's, I'm a longtime reader of this forum and I finally started posting because of what I heard through the grapevine. The Jets will not be signing Brad Smith but thats not the worst news, he will be signing with the NE Patriots! Santonio Holmes is the Jets priority by far, and that the Jets will sign Plaxico Burress to replace Braylon Edwards
You may of heard through some sort of 'grapevine' ... that the Jets wont sign Brad Smith, but that is pretty obvious. Mainly because he is NOT a wide receiver, the new kick off rules. Be honest you need to credit much of his success to our wonderful Special Teams Coordinator, Mike Westhoff. Brad Smith is a football player, but I dont want to give him 3-4 mil a year to beat the Bills with the Wildcat. Oh yeah we also drafted an actual Wide Receiver, whom can also return kicks, and run a wildcat too. But what you said about him going to the Patriots would make absolutely zero sense. They already have more than enough legit return men, and a bunch of young WR's. If the Patriots trade, or sign a FA WR, it will be Ochocinco, or Steve Smith... possibly Randy Moss, and whom ever is out there. but that is a long shot. If he goes anywhere in the divison, it will be to the Miami Dolphins.
I don't see him going to NE-they use Tate/Edelman for the wildcast/return game/end around stuff. Somebody's going to pay Smith too much to be their number two/three wideout.
Don't shoot me down for what I heard, this is a rumor board right? Lets see how it plays out. Brad Smith in New England scares me a bit, like Woodhead he wasn't utilized properly with the Jets.
Rumor board? Only backed up with facts, like a legitimate article. I can make up rumors too without anything to back it up, watch. Wes Welker will be released from the Pats so he can sign with the Jets. Don't shoot the messenger. No way the Pats go after Smith, prove it, otherwise it's just fake news. BTW, Bleacher Report does not count.
this is not a rumor board, unless we hear a rumor from a respectful source, Schefter, Manish, a few NFL Network guys(not at...). Anybody can make up a rumor. Here is my rumor. Sources tell me Santonio Holmes, Braylon Edwards, David Harris, Brad Smith, and Antonio Cromartie are all rumored to take vet minimum, because they want to keep last years team together, and win a super, also so we have room to bring in other great players. Yeah my silly rumor was a little out there, but come on man. What did you hear this from bleacher report? Incarcerated Bob makes better shit up then this.
Silly rumor maybe, but I heard from a longtime Jet season ticketholder who's son is a bigtime lawyer and he was at a dinner where either Brad Smith was or representitives where and the big talk was Smith going to the Patriots, done deal. Listen, I'm a Jets fan since 1970, I live and breathe Jets , I just hope it's not true because he'd kill us just like Woodhead did.
don't get me wrong I love Brad, but he wants a chance to be a receiver, we can't give him that and we definately can't pay him big money for the role he currently has. Wherever he goes he goes. Hopefully he does go to NE. Taking Brady off the field is a good thing imo. but like others have said, i doubt Brad to NE makes any sense, and even if your story is true, nothing is ever set in stone until the ink is dry. Antoine Winfield *shudders* In response to Cato on the lockout violations... I seriously doubt every team in the league is playing fair and some of them are going to be contacting agents through grapevines to try and get backdoor deals done... If there was any team out there I would expect to cheat, I would guess its NE.
Brad Smith has confused the hell out of me. I knew he was a QB coming out of college, but he did catch 32 passes in 2007. I thought he was going to develop into a 35-40 catch guy a year. Now the past 3 years he has caught 23 total. 2010 didn't help with Braylon Edwards, Holmes, and Cotchery on the roster though, I suppose.
