Why is it awful? Maybe he was that difficult to deal with and that’s why they moved on from him. He simply is not worth the headache. Eagles have their QB of the future in Hurts with no one looking over his shoulder and whining about it. They can use their extra pick this year to build the oline or add another weapon, or trade back. The other side of this is that it is simply not the other teams job to bail out the Eagles from bad financial decisions. My question is why get rid of Pederson if this was the plan all along? Philly will bounce back a lot faster than people think after this trade.
I think that was the case, Roseman has been really setting that franchise back with the way theyve drafted and payed players. Im not sure how he still has a job honestly Sent from my SM-N986U using Tapatalk
I think youre more optimistic than Philly fans. Hurts isnt the guy there, they will likely sign or draft someone. Theyve haphazardly drafted recently Sent from my SM-N986U using Tapatalk
I did a little research on the Eagles and their GM, you are right, his drafts have been Macagnan bad. Not sure what this coaching staff is going to do but I bet he will be fired after this year if his draft blows again.
Roseman is forever in power struggles with whatever coach they have. Thats why Reid couldnt do what hes doing now. But it come from the owner. He wants to set the vision and Roseman is his yes man. So he never gets the blame he should. I know we shit on the Johnsons, but damn, they dont mettle as much as Laurie does. Sent from my SM-N986U using Tapatalk
That conditional 2nd could become a 1st with easily-achieve incentives. Philly had no leverage. Every team knew they wanted to move on from Wentz. He has a bad contract. I think they did pretty well.
Indianapolis is actually an example showing us an alternative way to deal w/the QB position ---- by not being so obsessed w/it. If you look at the teams always drafting top 10 year after year after year, - its the ones that overdraft at QB (i.e. taking a QB at #2 when he might not be in the top 10 overall of the pure talent). Use your draft picks to fill other positions & build the roster. QBs will ultimately become available here & there. Saleh is a coach that will attract players to come. And QBs will come if they see that other positions are filled = particularly the O-Line.
They got an overrated qb that they didnt pay money for that will be off the roster in a few seasons. Not sure anyone really won here. Sent from my SM-N986U using Tapatalk
Colts got ripped off in the deal. They should have netted a favorable pick exchange and instead they took a deal which is most likely going to bust on them when the QB gets hurt after 12 games next year and forces them to give up their 1st in 2022.
I really dont see a winner in this deal honestly. I'm sure theyre all happy but i dont see a winner. Sent from my SM-N986U using Tapatalk
Wentz did play well under Reich when he was his OC. With a better oline and Reich as his HC he may be fine. Wentz hasn’t been a horrific QB, he just seems like he’s always injured and is tough to deal with as a person but looking at his stats he has been good.
I have a football text thread with my Philly family (a lot of sympathizing all around this year), and it exploded today with them reiterating that they think Roseman has compromising pictures of Lurie somewhere, since they don't see any way he could still have a job otherwise! The 2nd turns into a 1st pretty easily if Wentz doesn't get hurt (if he takes 75% of the snaps), and at least they didn't have to give Indy a first round pick to take Wentz off their hands (a la the Rams and Goff), so I think the deal isn't actually all that bad for the Eagles. The problem is the $34 million in dead cap space they have to take; that is, the problem is that they gave him that awful contract to begin with.
