No, I actually was taking the shot at Geno not you, but perhaps it all came out wrong. I actually agree with most everything you just said above. But - I still maintain that Geno is not the answer.
I'd agree with you if the last SIX number one picks hadn't been on defense, with three of those picks being made BEFORE Idzik arrived. If YOU really think it is just a coincidence that defensive "guru" Rex Ryan had nothing to do with Six straight number one picks on defense and 2 of the top 3 picks in the last 4 drafts, then I have a bridge in Brooklyn I'll sell you.
Añybody see Jalen Sanders 99 yard kick return yesterday for the Saints?I love watching our draft picks on other teams contributing
Look, to me it shows that Idzik selecting D players was willing to work with Rex. Rex couldn't win with the talent he did have. You want a coach to overachieve not underachieve.
I didn't say he had "nothing to do with it..." I said that it's not his ultimate responsibility. And it's the responsibility of the GM to see what's best for the team, not what the HC wants, and act on that mission. Just like it's not Ryan's job to coach the defense but to coach the entire team. So, you want to fault Ryan, fault him for never getting enough out of the offense. Don't fault him for making draft picks.
