Oh and Keller is VERY good, if he had Tom Brady or Drew Brees throwing to him he would put up monster numbers. We just dont use him in our offense at all and it sucks.

    True.

Keller has as much talent, and more raw athletic ability, than Jimmy Graham.

If used effectively by the Jets, he could put up numbers equal to Graham, Vernon Davis, or Aaron Hernandez.

And, if teamed with Tom Brady, he'd put up equal or better numbers than Gronkowski.

Keller led the team in receptions this year.

I wonder if the Jets would take Gronkowski straight up for Keller?

I don't know if the Jets would. I don't even know if I would.

Straight up? Same money? I might make that trade.

But, I have a feeling you're basing it strictly off this season's numbers and, that being the case, its just another demonstration of your lack of understanding of football and of any particular player's value.

Put Dustin Keller on the Patriots this year and he'd be Rob Gronkowski.

Put Rob Gronkowski on the Jets this year and he'd be Dan Gronkowski.

    That's just how it works.

Id be happy with a 3rd and 5th, even a 4th and 5th if theyre early enuf. We would be able to draft his 2 replacements eitherway

DK is more =to hernandez tho dk is quite a bit better. Gronks just big and can block as well as catch. Now thats rare in a TE. Still his ability as a reciever is grossly overrated d/t brady

I disagree. On the basis of blocking ability alone, Keller is deficient. He is too small and not physical enough.

I don't blame him and lack of effort for the games he disappears. It seems to me those occasions aer more about the opposing D deciding they are going to cover him with an effective scheme, and have the people to do it.

Then they do it, which is a different sort of problem. I don't think it's because he's not trying.

If this is true, then it is a sure sign the team is throwing in the towell with Sanchez. I don't know how else you explain it.

DK doesnt fit Sparanos offense. Very easy to explain, dint need a te who cant block on a run first team

  12. Detroit's Brandon Pettigrew & a 7th rounder for Keller. That's a win for both teams.

Pettigrew is a good blocker w/ good hands but doesn't stretch the field for the pass first Lions. Keller stretches the field but can't run block or play in a phone booth for the "Ground & pound" Jets. Lions throw in a 7th rounder due to Keller's big play ability that Pettigrew lacks.

Detroit gets a finesse tight end who can run deep who can take pressure off of Calvin.

Jets get a #1 Tight end who is a much better fit for their system. They offset Keller's receiving ability with the return of Jeff Cumberland.

Really!? Keller doesn't fit our O very well and he is sooo inconsistent... more tha Sanchez.

Id' take Graham or Gronk EVERY day over Keller. You're over-estimating him by a mile!

Again, really!? Never realized so many Jets fans had such a hard-on for Keller.

The only reason I'd keep him is because of his chemistry with Sanchez but that's about it...

I think RV is being a tad bit sarcastic.

  17. What am i missing? Keller is a great player who still has tremendous upside. But unless he moves to H-back or WR, he isn't an ideal fit for a run first northeast offense.

Ford Field, Matthew Stafford and Calvin Johnson would be a great fit for Keller.Detroit can't run the ball anyway.

Pettigrew is a very good run blocker who is a good short middle/redzone target.

I've been advocating trading Keller long before these rumors. Considering the amount unsuspecting Sanchez passes that has hit Keller in the back of his helmet in the past 3 years back, I’m not worrying about the chemistry lost with Sanchez. Also, I want us to go after Fred Davis Sanchez’s college TE. I’m still pissed that we traded up in the first in 2008 to get Keller, who I believe was the second best TE in the draft behind Davis. Davis is bigger, taller and probably faster than Keller with better hands. I think the Redskins plan to low ball him because of the drug suspension.
