Yeah, just read the same article. He wouldn't have passed the medical, but he still plays. So the guys is as tough as nails or the condition really isn't that bad . I say hes a tough SOB.
i liked donnie as our dc, but couldnt stand cottrell, never understood the cottrell hiring from buffalo were they ran a 3-4
I totally agree with you. It really is too bad the guy had no fit here, and was making too much money to hold onto. (No sarcasm)
I believe that DRob has something to prove. We haven't seen the new Broncos' contract yet, but I bet there are a lot of "show-me" performance clauses between DRob and the serious money it entails. DRob is the kind of player that just needs an even chance. He never opened his mouth about the primary disadvantage he was under in the situation Mangini and Sutton put him in. He just did the best he could, knowing full well what the limitations were. He was never penalized by Mangini and Sutton because they knew what they asked of him and what he had to overcome. DRob in the 4-3 will have a better chance to be one-on-one with his opponent. For DRob this will be like, LIBERATION!. Woe is the poor bastard that has to deal with DRob by himself against the Broncos' 4-3. If anybody will, I believe DRob will come out on top of this new contract, and on top of this 65% floor of playing time.
The reality it is that it doesn't matter if we get nothing for Robertson. The important part was getting him and his monster contract out of here with as little of a cap hit as possible. The best way to do this was by trade (the cap hit is much less). If we get something for him, it is just icing on the cake.
i agree w/the cap part, i personly wouldnt have minded if we kept him, but for no more than 2 million a year, my problem w/robertson is that he never was a force, a wrecking ball, a beast e.c.t, he was just ok at times
This is bs. The broncos were willing tot ake the risk by giving up nothing. cry me a river. if this is true (which i doubt) this was a stupid trade. basically if D Rob misses one game we get nothing? Thats stupid. Why trade him? We have until June 1st. Someone is likely to get desperate. If not just cut him. Dont give the Broncos the satisfaction. Is it me, or do always get screwed on trades. I mean the rumors of the trades are always way off with what we actually get.
...if he misses a game, we won't get a 2nd rounder. We'll still get a pick, it will just be a late rounder instead of a high pick. It's based on his performance. Stop complaining, we just freed up a lot of cash by getting rid of an unwanted player.
That doesn't make sense. The cap hit from a trade is FAR less than from just cutting him June 1st. So even if he doesn't play and we get nothing, it is still considered a trade and it doesn't hurt the cap as much. So we unloaded much more of his contracted. Who gives a shit about "Don't give the Broncos the satisfaction." It was the best thing for the team. On top of that at least there is a chance we can get something for him next year, if they just cut him we get shit. This had to be done to free up cap space and unload a horrid contract, simple.
The chance of a draft pick is better than outright cutting him. I doubt the pot was going to get any sweeter. He can't pass a physical.
Jets could get a 3rd, or NOTHING for D-Rob. http://myespn.go.com/blogs/hashmarks/0-6-264/More-on-Robertson-trade.html
Why would you not just assume the Jets would get screwed in any trade this team has ever done? That gets added to the list of death and paying taxes.
The nothing part bothers me because if Denver is out of contention, then they simply not play Robertson and have him ''shut it down'' and then we get left out in the cold. Regardless, at least the money is off the hook.
The Jets parked him someplace they thought he was unlikely to come back and hurt them. They probably won't get any compensation for him but at least he's not playing for the Dolphins.
Im happy we finally got rid of him becuase of the money and hopefully the pick isnt to bad like a 4th nxt yr would be good for his bummy knees....
