Well, you say he has upside-- back it up. he is a 29 year old ST player. that does not equal upside. his potential has been reached. If he is meant to be a ST/backup then fine- I have no problem with that. but this post was written in response to a thread FULL of people talking about how good a pickup he was due to his starting ability. I also voiced my opinion about FA-- I said i don;t want to sign anyone right now- but would rather draft BPA as much as possible, and wait until after June 1 at this point. i am not the kind of uneducated fan who wants to sign the best 10 FA and call it an offseason. i am also not one of these new trendy fans who are in love with a guy like Chatham who keep saying how solid he is just because he was a ST for the pats.
Um, because that is the damn point of a public forum. To either 1) Share new information and news, like a signing, etc. 2) to debate, learn, and share. It does not matter if you start a thread or reply, the purpose is the same, to engage discussion. If you are not willing to engage, to change you mind, WHY THE HELL ARE YOU HERE? TO SEE YOU WORDS ON THE SCREEN? TO MASSAGE YOUR EGO? TO TELL US HOW DUMB WE ARE? WHY?
No- i actually responded to quite a few on this thread who made legit points, or agreed/disagreed without being a cock.
Take shots at me all you want-- you still haven't made a football point. The comments about not learning were made to the first jerk-off who came on, and made no football point. If you wan tme to change my stance- than make me. Tell me why Chatham can be a good starter- tell me why you think mangini is at the same level as bellicheck. Give me something other than life lessons.
You just completely ignored the point of my post and babbled on again about how smart you are and how all of us are ignorant. He is a solid pick-up. If he is a good pick-up for ST and depth, by definition it is a "solid" pick-up. Maybe not starting material, but still solid. Age does not determine upside. He was not given a chance to start because he was on a team loaded at his position for years. His best years might be ahead of him, hence the definition of upside - will he produce more now or a year from now, then he has already. And if you want to start an intelligent debate, maybe you should stop with the condescending tone of your posts. Because right now, you are just coming across as an ass, and no one is listening.
just trying to get some football feedback. Nobody here can tell me why Chatham has upside as a 29 year old ST player.
I don't understand how you can expect people to seriously share their opinions with you when you've already told them that their opinions don't matter to you.
I never said Chatham would be a good starter...or even mentioned starter...so dont put words in my mouth little boy. Secondly, exactly who are you calling a JERKOFF. who would that be pointed towards. Third, I have never..ever put Mangini in BB's shoes. Ever. Dont start that holy than thou crap with me pal. You go do your homework and tell me where I have ever made that point. Im not trying to give you life lessons...Im just pointing out why people are attacking you. Dont pull that crap with me.
I think plenty of people are listening, and I love it. I actually think you made a halfway decent point about him being behind other players- but he has played while others were injured, and still never produced. You just went from saying that he is a possible starter, to a backup in 2 minutes-- that is what I am telling you I don;t do. i don;t change opinion in 2 posts! the only time Age does not determine upside is when a player was benched (like Steve Young) and never got a shot. he had a shot when he filled in, an dhe never did anything according to friends of mine who are pats fans.
You are really a condescending ass, you know that? You want me engage you in an intelligent debate, but ignore whatever I say. I have stated my opinion on the subject, but glossed over it because you are too busy listening to yourself and showing your smug know-it-all attitude. Why should I want to talk to you about anything significant why i know the kind of responses i will get? You already know you are right, so why the hell do you want to know what I think? I have engaged in many debates with people that do not share my opinions. I have learned much. But i do not post often because I do not like this tyoe of BS. I talk about football often and think I contribute much to the debate of this forum, so your responses to me just make you look like a fool.
That's the other problem with your posts. I haven't seen you make a halfway decent point once in this thread. All you have done is state the obvious and also state your completely ungrounded opinions based on the obvious. Bravo. You are a SUPRA GENIUS.
Ok, didnt call you a Jerkoff- and I didn't say that those were you opinions about mangini or Chatham-- what I am asking you to do, is make me change my stance with football facts- or at least add somekind of football knowledge ot the thread. So far, you have not mentioned football once. If you are so hellbent on making me learn from everyone, then give me something football related that I can learn from. its like bitching about the president when you didn;t vote. Don;t complain about me sticking with my opinions unless you can present me with facts telling me otherwise.
Still waiting to hear about all that upside this guy has. Or does he not have any now? Did you change your position on that too?
Of course you love all these people arguing with you. Like i said this whole thread has been about massaging your ego, and noth about football. Wow wow wow. Talk about twisting my words around. I said he was a good pick-up as a back-up/starter with a possible upside to being a starter. Makes sense to me. Every back-up has to be signed because yo uthink they can start. Be it a few games for someone injuried or to replace the starter down the road. By very definition a back-up has to have the potential (or at least perceived potential) to be a starter. Why else sign him? To fill a roster spot. I did not change my opinion after 2 posts, you are just to busy arguing and not trying to understand my point. Hey if you friends say it, it must be true! You convinced me.
I actually gave opinions based on what other patriots fans have told me. And those are the best kind you can get second to watching the guy play yourself. Which nobody has told me they have done to this point.
