Because out of all the NFC teams that will make the playoffs the Cards will have the worst QB.

And as good as their D is it isn't as good as the 00 Ravens or 02 Bucs or last years Hawks where a game manager can lead em to one.

So since I won't say they have no shot I'll say 1 percent.

Like I said on here two years ago, the Jets should've went hard after Arians and they blew it as usual. The guy is an offensive innovator and an elite HC. All he's done is win in Indy and 'Zona. Hell, he's even making Drew Stanton look like an NFL QB. He'll be the NFL HC of the year at this rate for the 2nd time in 3 or 4 years. And we're stuck with blowhard Rex.

They are favorites to get a bye. They are two games up on Phila, Dallas and Detroit and also hold tiebreaker advantages on them.

They sure as hell do not have a less than 1 percent chance to win the Super Bowl.

There have been multiple teams that have won NFL titles under similar circumstances. Losing a starting QB, while it sucks, has not always been a death knell.

That all said, the Cards do not have good odds. I bet Nate Silver and other math wizards would put their odds to win in the 7-12% range. The Packers and Patriots would probably top out in the high teens. I am not sure, though. But less than 1%? Those might be the Jets odds.

I don't know many teams that won a Super Bowl with a 'true' backup besides Jeff Hostetler. I guess you could count Kurt Warner too but he did start the whole season. Trent Dilfer was at least the Ravens starter for the latter 2/3 of the season.

The same defense that held Geno Smith to 17 points? You are saying Geno is better than Stanton and Rodgers? Cool argument.

Jeff Hostetler is not the only Stanton-type to take over during the season and lead a team to a title.

Left out Jim Plunkett I guess...for some reason I thought he was the QB all the way through. Doug Williams too, he wasn't the starter for all of '87.

I wrote NFL titles as opposed to Super Bowl titles because there were examples of this prior to the Super Bowl era.

Instead of writing from scratch, I found a site that mentions most of the cases.

    http://profootballdaly.com/backup-qbs-to-the-rescue

Not noted in there was Trent Dilfer in 2000 taking over for Tony Banks.

Like I said before, Cards have no chance with Stanton starting in the playoffs.

    One and done.

If only the Cards could "develop" him properly.

The Cardinals were not winning with Palmer today. Larry Fitzgerald being out and poor field position doomed the Cardinals today. Unless the Cardinals squander the division lead, I would bet against them bowing out in their first playoff game.

But, I will tell ya, you are really going out on a ledge kicking dirt on a team with a backup QB even though backups have won titles before.

They also wouldn't have only put up 3 points either.

Seattle's D has been suspect all season but today they looked like they did last season. Coincidence?

Yeah Fitz being out hurt but Floyd is no slouch. And what did Stanton give him? A whopping 0 receptions.

And yeah backups have won before..but like I said before the teams that have had that happen (90 Giants, 00 Ravens) had great teams around them. Great teams. Cards are very good but nowhere near great.

Lots of things will have to break right for them to beat a team like Green Bay, Seattle or even San Fran in the playoffs.

The only reason anyone here is talking about Drew Stanton was because he was on the Jets for a day. If this was any other backup we wouldnt hear jack about it.

People need to stop listening to the media. Just cause guys arent here anymore doesnt make them great.

I watched the game and did not see anything that would make me pick Seattle to win a playoff game in Arizona.

    We shall see.

What we have established here today is that you will bump a thread if it makes you look good. So there are insecurity issues.

I didnt even bump the thread but ok.

Plus me being right about Drew Stanton is not something Id give myself much credit for.

Something tells me if he went out and threw for 4 scores and the Cards won it would've been bumped for other reasons.

You did bump it. You are the first one to post in it tonight/the first one to post it in following the Cardinals loss.

I picked the Cardinals to lose. There was no surprise in the game. I would pick the Cardinals to beat Seattle if they played tomorrow in Arizona.

My mistake I thought someone bumped it today

Cards will get their chance against Seattle against Id guess. Just cant see Stanton being the reason they win.
